If you're daring, you could go with both navy and yellow stools! I think it would look really cool, and bring a lot of personality to your kitchen.

If open to living and dining room, I would make sure the navy or yellow works there as well and you don't mind them becoming the focal point (see below as an example). With shaker cabinets and black hardware, I could see the style and metal finish below.

You could ask your Shaker counter stool maker to use the same paint as the cabinets, or, in our case, we ask our customers to select a Benjamin Moore color that blends or matches their cabinets and we will apply that shade. This is perhaps the easiest approach you could take unless you want drastic contrasts.
