I purchased a 4 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom in 2011. I had heard about SANIFLO TOILET SYSTEM and that it didn't need a permit as it will not disrupt my structure of my unit.

I call city hall and my strata to ask about permit required and both said as long as it didn't change or alter the basic structure such as break concrete or take down walls it would be fine.

I had MILANI come to estimate and install the system.

I also had them confirm with city hall in front of my realtor and my contractor prior to the installation.

Now here at 2015 I am ready to sell and I find out that the city said what I had done was NOT PERMITTED and it was illegal.

I call MILANI and they couldn't believe what had happened.

I called my realtor and he had a SANIFLO installed in his condo that same year after he had confirmed with the city about NO PERMIT REQUIRED.

The Richmond City Hall insisted that SANIFLO was NEVER approved AND they wouldn't have approved of it.

I don't remember whom I had talked to and don't have paperwork to prove it.

WHY would there be any paperwork if I didn't need to apply for it in the first place?

I have 5 potential buyers waiting for the results.

I don't have the funds and I do believe MILANI should be fully responsible either.

I believe the city hall is TOTALLY responsible for this.

I am thinking of suing Richmond City Hall.

Any ideas?
