suzanne_m - indeed a LOT of mistakes were avoided through detailed planning.. The frame around the "frameless" medicine cabinets is one of my favorite solutions... I selected the cabinets for their dimensions, but didn't initially consider the problem of installing both on the tile field and above. Because the chair rail tile is quite a bit thicker than the subway tile and wall, the unfinished siding of the medicine cabinet would have been exposed. After considering several options, I ended up having my carpenter create a 1.5" frame that mimicked the framework throughout the rest of the house to solve the problem. The frames are painted the same dark/charcoal blue as the antique clawfoot tub :)

acm - I was also nervous about doing away with a traditional vanity, but can honestly say that I have zero regrets. The medicine cabinets provide all the space I need for my daily use items (and then some). Everything else, as you said, easily fits in campaign chest. I'm only using 4 of 9 drawers at the moment, so there's even room to spare!

Looks great. What tile did you use for the baseboard, and where did you find it? If you don't mind sharing. Doing a remodel with the same white subway tile and having a hard time finding a tile baseboard to match that is not crazy expensive. Thanks.

@littlemb1, I don't mind sharing at all! All the wall tile is from www.tileshop.com, in their Imperial Bianco line (white, gloss).

The skirting tile wasn't cheap... I became so obsessed with it that I couldn't imagine using a different tile once I knew it existing. But if I were to do things over, I would have gone with something much more simple and less expensive - which I think would have had a similar effect. For my upcoming guest bathroom project, I'll most likely be using U.S. Ceramic tiles (via HomeDepot) with a standard cove base.
