Mixing kitchen countertop materials

We are using a nice marble in our kitchen for island and long countertop behind it. We may not have enough in the slab for the third smaller countertop across from the island, between the frig and wall ovens, that will be a coffee station with window above and drawers beneath. Thinking of doing stainless steel for this to match range hood, or walnut stained wood. Dont want to buy another slab for this little piece! Would this look wierd?

i'm fine with it not matching, but i think stainless with a coffee station might be difficult. i always end up sliding my coffee pot ahead and back each day, you'll likely get the same scratch again and again. this would bother me, maybe not you.

HI -- I think the stainless steel will be a good choice . No it will not look weird . I think it will look proper for the coffee station .

Thanks for the comments. I hope the little counter will fit in the slab, but I need to have a backup plan if it doesnt!

nnigrt, dont you think the wood butcher block would scratch just as badly as stainless? I thought a dark walnut stain might look good as I'm going to stain the wood floors walnut too. Everything else (cabinets, marble) will be white except for ss range hood.

i'm a big fan of using the best material for the task at hand. so, quartz. get a remnant that will co-ordinate with the rest of your counters.
