The caudex one was a pain. Thought it was a pachy but no spines. So I searched what I knew "leaves growing from caudex" then suspected Euphorbia but it didn't show as "caudex forming Euphorbia "

In the end after many pictures my guess is ... drum roll please.

    Euphorbia bupleurifolia

Now onto the next which I don't expect to find. All the rosette succulents confuse me more than any others.

    NEVER EAT UNRIPE PEPPERS!

Such a waste of good plant material and energy! I'm not going to be growing any bells next year, I guess I'll have to have a seed give away or something.

useless, good-for-nothing, just using up a lot of water and prime real estate for not very many peppers! That take forever to ripen! And aren't even very good once they do ripen (I'm looking at you, California Wonder!)

I Am truly impressed! Euphorbia bupleurifolia it is.

The force is strong in this one.

some of mine didn't do this well this year becaue of the lack of sun. had many overcast days with humidity. i think i harvested 2 little tomatoes. even my usual herbs didn't make it either.

Nomen stop helping him with your clues! lol

What clue? Where? Did I miss one? I think I'm throwing in the towel on the last one. They are just too tough for me. Best guess based on growth habit was pachyveria. But I can't even find a rosette that grows more rosette between the leaves.

I see some Aeonium. Sedum stonecrop. Part of the problem is there are so many of them!

I also don't see nomen anywhere around this thread. Lol

I believe it would be called pupping for that pachyveria? If it is a pachyveria, I take your word for it.

Neil wanted to mock my id skills and ask that I id the one with a caudex and the very last picture. And no, "food" was incorrect

OK Slugger if you give up i'll tell you. it's one of the larger growing aeoniums. The Aeonium nobile. The one i have is an arobreal variety as they are usually solitary growing rosettes.

    last modified: 11 years ago

Dang it, when I first saw the stem I thought Aeonium but immediately excluded them because I thought the babies all grew from the base of the plant :(

i didnt want to mock you, just challenge you!

Many aeoniums pup from around a main rosette. Kiwi is another.

I was just teasing you Neil. But I do want to thank you for the information and I enjoyed the challenge.

Nomen did post on this thread (see all the way up)

Nicholas- saw this online. Please ID it for me. Do you accept the identity challenge??

I saw Nomen and understand the clue now, at the time I thought he was talking about PSR because lati had just asked about it.

Neil it looks like it may be related to the Baobab tree, so possibly something in the Adansonia genus. I'll have to see if I can narrow it down in my last few minutes before work.

Edit: Nope out of time, closest I got was Adansonia gregorii but I'm not convinced yet, this one has too unique of a growth habit.

It looks like it to me?

maybe PSR means photo shop ready.

I see Nomen'No men's comment today. I didn't see it in the thread before, weird notification system and cookies management.

There is something strange with the format on here. It seems to change randomly like the staircases at Hogwart's.

Dont let it drive you crazier than you are. I can post the name : )

Neil, the trees are surely Brachychiton rupestris

And Laurent swoops in for the goal!

I'd say that certain looks like it could be it. Don't think I ever would have found that which leads me to believe I need to develop a better method of identification searching.

ID for laticauda 'nomem' Latin meaning: 'name' & ' nudum' meaning "naked name", used in taxonomy (especially in zoological and botanical nomenclature)

Laurent , mon ami, excuses , mais il est pas.
Devrais-je vous dire ou vous préférez de spéculer plus?

So, you're naked name and I'm wide tail I guess. Since both of our user names are translatable Latin lol.

I think it's so kool that you both are fluent in Latin.

Rofl my copters, well, I probably do know more Latin than Spanish.

Wanna see what i was working on today? ok Good, here it is! Whattaya think?

That's adorable. What material is it made out of?

Why it's made of the finest French Porcelain, forged by hand and painted by an Italian grand master of the arts.

It's really an old olive oil container made with the cheapest of ceramics : (

I wonder where Nickels is tonight? it's 2:30am his time. early for him! Do you think he's on a dance floor somewhere imbibing?

pourquoi n'êtes-vous pas au travail ?

    il est juste dimanche!

I'm going to work but it's just 8.43 AM here, too early to open a shop on sunday lol

    let me check

    Possibly...the name i have is...

    toborochi

    from South America

Heure d'aller au lit. Bonne journée!

Toborochi is a popular name for Chorisia (now Ceiba) speciosa. C. speciosa has pink flowers, C. insignis has white flowers. C. insignis is much more shaped like a bottle, I think your photo shows insignis. Merci ! Bonne nuit !

I was sleeping.. early night for me and I passed out like 12am and missed all this fun. So if Laurent had the wrong ID on the tree then what is it? By the way the new arrangement in the green porcelain is beautiful. I'm curious what you are going to do with your firestorm. Personally I think it would look good with a Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegata and maybe some burrows tail or string of pearls off the side. :)

That sound like a good arrangement. The 3 new baskets are in full sun though, and i know the senecio rowleyanus and sedum morganianum would scorch. I'm not sure about the kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegata. I have those three in a bright, filtered spot.
