Solid Surface Beats Stone

This is the bottom of a decorative electronic toy that my nephew with the PhD built and gave to us as a Christmas present. Obviously, the batteries leaked. The Formica solid surface countertop where it sat is undamaged. This would not be the case if my tops were stone or engineered stone. I doubt battery acid has any effect on sintered tops (Neolith, Dekton).

I'm not knocking stone and estone; they are fine products. Top shoppers need to know the tradeoffs; this is one.
