We need some help on deciding whether we shift the traditional oak stain everywhere in our house to a cleaner look like white. We know the challenges of it but it would brighten our house tremendously. I did add some wainscoting and new paint in our dining and living room and that has changed our those rooms a lot. There is just so many parts of our house that has oak it feels so dark and painting our fireplace, built ins etc would give the house a huge face lift. Thoughts if you think it would help/hurt resale? I think we could always start with the built ins and trim and see how it looks. We are in the suburbs of Minneapolis so a lot of younger families are moving in and i would assume the oak is out of style for young families.
