Oh Mama. Is there a laundry detergent catch & release program? Because of you, I want to try EVERYTHING. But I just want an ounce or 2 of everything. Everything in United States comes in such big bottles & such a waste.

5 minutes ago I said I was going to try all the detergents in the Mexican grocery & now you have me back to United States. LOL.

I think it was test marketed.

I'm having a hard time finding anything about it. It looks like they were trying to match Downy Simple Pleasures and Tide (with same fragrances) so the scents matched.

It was on the market several years ago. I can't believe you don't remember the stuff. Then in Tides way of doing things, they discontinued it. They did have softener too and kept some of it. I remember people looking for leftover bottles of the Tide in stores that didnt sell much to get the last bit. There was lavender(purple bottle) seems like Rose something in a Pink bottle, maybe one was in an orange bottle(mandarin maybe) Cant remember all of it. Several varieties. I never used it cause it was way too loud for me.

Maybe Larsi remembers. George, I believe it was on the market too long for just a test run but maybe I am wrong. Every store had it and it was in the flatter-wider bottle back when Tide used those instead of the ones like the last few years.

I had the Simple Pleasures in the purple (Lavender Serenity) and black (Orchid Allure) bottle. Both softeners were so "creamy" that they never fully flushed from the dispenser.

It was introduced in 2006, I believe... sometime mid-year. It was launched, just a year before all the Tide Liquids went to 2x (Ultra, 2007).

I'm pretty sure it was discontinued in 2008 though, due to lack of sales. With that said... I remember reading reviews about it... and the scent more then lingered, very very strong. They also *never* made it for HE machines, ever.

Of Course... Tide Sweet Dreams.. could probably be considered very similar.

Oh yeah...seeing the commercial, I have used that...ehhh it was just OK.

There was also another Tide launched, just around the same time of "Simple Pleasures" timely death. Tide Pure Essentials W/ Baking Soda. It smelled really nice :-)

(And I hope nobody minds me posting these commercials. I just think it's the best way to describe things.)

It was launched in 2008. However.... it was pulled out of distribution to most stores but Target, before production stopped in August of 2013.

Some P&G reps, will tell you it was discontinued in June or July of 2007. But it's funny one of those ads I pulled, was from a Martha Stewart show in December of 2008. Why would P&G be running ads for a detergent pulled from the market? Lmao.

Hey that little girl in the second commercial looks like Yara Shadidi from Black'ish.

    It is her :)

The one I always saw or read about people looking for was the Lavender but it would burn your nose just smelling it in the bottle.

I tried them ALL, but was still too in love with Downy April Fresh. Now, I hate most new things P&G makes. They are the devil to me!!! LOL

Yeah Larsi...I'd like to be on this "panel" of people that test this stuff out before it hits the public.

Why is P&G turning out annoying scents? Did someone with a bad sniffer get the job?

Sparky I do remember it, but I never tried it, I was reminded of it today when I seen it on Kmart.com. I just don't know if it has enzymes and cleaning abilities or if it was all about scent. I was never truely a Tide girl except for Tide original scent..and of course Tide Bleach...I have been hunting for some tide with the original scent sadly none around here lol. Once the original oxydol was gone years ago my mom only used Tide except when she had coupons I still have a few of her outfits in a zipper clothes bag do you know they still have a very faint scent of Tide. ok, sad talk is over lol....ya I just wondered if Simple pleasures was all about scent or if it actually was good at its job..thank you everyone.

Paw, there is no program to help with detergent addiction, lol...I know what you mean about wishing for small amounts to try...actually someone on here should open a detergent sample store lol.

I may try this actually. I have an ebay seller account. What amount should I put 1oz? 2oz?

and how would i ship liquids? lol

Well not to seem smart a**, but I think they only used about 3 households when they changed Tide original powder this last time. I don't see how very many sane people could like the new scent over the clean smelling old one. JMO

I don't know Sparky but it sure sells a lot..on the other hand not like there's all that many choices

@Miami: Tide is .25 cents a load. Wisk .14 cents a load. Tide Simply Clean .11 cents a load. Sun is .05 cents a load. (Per consumer reports).

I need 1 or 2 tablespoons per load not sure how many ounces that equals.

These little mason jars are cute.

    The jars are .71 each.

Since each detergent is priced differently you can adjust per jar. Or do 4 jars with 4 different price levels of soap.

Plus the shipping & handling to customer. Lastly your overhead, supplies & labor.

Its hard to think of just one price but I'd love some mystery detergents to try.

Wait. Legally would you need a license or something to sell someone's product? I can only imagine the legal team for Tide.

people sell detergent all the time on ebay and amazon. how would it be any diff if i unboxed it and put it into smaller containers? That is something to think about though. and the jars are adorable but i dont know if they'd hold liquid. :) I wonder how many people besides us soap lovers on here would actually buy my "laundry detergent sampler" LOL I swear i think im going to try it. With higher end, harder to find soaps.

I will of course buy lol

I would buy it too! Actually I would want a monthly subscription. 1 sample is never enough!!!!

I'm not sure either about the jars. Plastic would be lighter and cheaper to mail. But can get squashed. The lid would need to seal tight. I would also make some stickers on the front with your name & such.

I'm not sure about detergent. I was thinking along the lines of Verizon and a Verizon reseller. They're allowed to sell Verizon service but cannot claim to be the real Verizon. Just an example that comes to mind.

I would use ziplock bags, much lighter for mailing prices. Cept ya can't do liquids that way...lol

@mamapinky0... would about the little lotion bottles from Hotels? Couldn't there be a way for someone to buy small bottles like that, and fill them with liquids? :-)

Also found out this little tidbit of info. 1tbsp is 1/2 ounce. 2 tbsp is 1oz. Im still amazed that most of you use this small of an amount and clothes come out clean, but i've never had or used a front loader besides the gigantic ones we had at one of the spas i worked at, and those were industrial and had the dispensers in the back that auto dosed. They were fun to watch!

Amazon should sell small containers for liquid in bulk much cheaper

22$ for a case of 60 is not too bad! Now i just need to figure out if 2oz is a proper measurement for top loaders as well. ( i know thats plenty for a front loader)

gotta get out the measuring cup and a bottle of liquid det.
