Pets as Decor

I just thought, I've totally decorated my house around my dog. Do your pets compliment your style as well?

    My precious boys!

Its funny how the carpet turned pinkish in that photo...it's actually off white and the bane of my existence!

Back when we were a three dog house. My sweet Windwatcher (chow/border collie) passed in February. The little one is trouble- you can see it I am sure. lol

Here are my rescue twins. Simba chose me but I didn't have the heart to separate brothers.

This is a better pic of Simba & Toby

On this one if you look closely in the background you can see KoKo.

And the final one is KoKo & Murphy

I want to say that i thoroughly enjoyed this thread and all the participants, the pics were great.

Just want to say one thing, to anyone who thinks otherwise, none of us choose our pets or dispose of them based on our decorating choices! From what i have read it does not appear so. but i have known personal cases and likewise heard more do. So I am sure I speak for all of us, when I say, that is one thing we do not condone!

My new dog matches to well. I'm surprised he's still alive.

He is adorable! He will learn to avoid you, in the meantime, red or kelly green bow or sweater? The little ones often like clothes, my little one hates summer, no more sweaters etc. growls at you when you pull the last collar off. You can make him a collar by cutting the wrist band off a sweat suit or sweater. He will love it. Mine always wears his little coats with matching collars - of course he is a little bigger so he wears ski head bands.

    What an absolute cutie :)

Thanks! He is very photogenic and loves his picture taken. In real life he is more like a rodent but I love him. I sometimes wish I was the type of dog mom to dress her pet. But I am not. My cousin who has a Masters degree in medical science changed careers and now has a very successful luxury couture pet fashion business, I could dress my dog in high style if I had the mind to or the $$$$$ even at a discount. But, he eats the few clothing items he has anyway lol.

Terri, your little guy is precious! I don't dress my guys except for Murphy having to wear a belly band and the bandanas that our groomer puts on the. What breed is your sweetie?

oh please, do not misunderstand. i have never been big on it either, rorrie has to hair shaved at regular intervals, like a sheep, so he would freeze in winter. have always used raincoats, and sweaters as needed, but none of the sissified stuff. I found the collars by accident. I think when your little guy grows up you will find he appreciates things like that. Never could get anybody to wear the little booties, though it seems FL pups would have appreciated them. You would have thought i cut their paws off. lol.

Now my sister's mil got a dog for the first time. Inherited her from a relative. Always wanted daughter, now she has one. Tutus, the whole nine yards! tehehe

Oh, and I will admit mine have all had strict marching orders, we dress for halloween and hold still while children appreciate us. lol

Pepper has alopecia so needs a little extra warmth.

pepper is not in role as tiger. tehehe.

Holly what is a belly band? Is that what i keep threatening Rorrie with? I tell him he has to watch his girth or mommy is going to have to tie a blue ribbon around his important parts to keep them from dragging the ground as he ages!

Here's my hairless wonder, Cocoa. She's an american hairless terrier and the first dog I was ever able to have because of allergies. Lowest dander breed. First pic is her in our FL condo enjoying some plain yogurt. Many times we've almost tripped over her because she matches the floor and is only 12" tall.

And here she is all decked out rooting for the Mets. :)
And yes, that is her skin color. She has absolutely no hair at all except for some whiskers.

When my first Gsd passed away, I had his photo done and put in where I ca see him every day. Still miss him.

    This is my love, Koda.

How about pets sabotaging home maintenance? This morning I went around the house blue tape marking where I needed to touch-up the baseboard paint. Little did I know the little rascal was going behind me removing all tape but for two areas. He had quite a collection out on the patio. Some bits are missing altogether.

What beautiful pets here! Last night we had the first fire of the season and we did have Billie pose for this picture. She is very compliant and the heat probably felt good!

Thanks to all for sharing photos of your gorgeous pets!

    My kitchen matches my cats.

    They are ridiculous.

    Duh.

Love this thread! This is my go-to for the day when I need a happy break.

This thread really made me smile! I'm guilty of having cats that blend in with our decor. We have 3 cats; one all black, one black with a white "broach" on her chest, and our little Holstein cat, Daisy, pictured below between coordinating poufs. All 3 of them found us (so weren't chosen for their colors), but I have come to love black and white accents ;)

almondstriations: Holsteins!!! That's exactly what my two black and whites are. Moo.

Reese blends in with the outdoors a little more. Her coat is an almost perfect match for the dry grasses and sandy dirt

Havingfun, the belly band is on Murphy when he is in the house because he marks everything. I hate that he has to wear it but he has been impossible to break of this habit. He's my boy and I love the little critter so I deal with it the best that I can.

Msjam your Kodak is a handsome boy!

hm, never heard of one of those

    Yes. Bruin agrees.

Glad, we got that straight, awful if bruin isn't in agreement! tehehe

Mine don't match my decor .... who cares, they are so stinkin cute, if I say so myself! LOL!

@pam, sometimes you need a little pop of color in your decor. Very cute!

Big one looks like a short hair of my most honorable, and terribly missed Sashi, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

Sashi had a dark nose like yours though. And a white arrow point on her right hip.

As you all probably already know, I love cream-colored rooms . . . with pops of color, that is. So . . . my darling little Sasha fits right in, although I didn't plan it at all (and, yes, she's as sweet and cuddly a she looks, too). Gosh, I love this darlin furbaby of mine! Both of them, actually.

Our floors are brick throughout, mainly with Oriental rugs here and there. Our newest Doberman, Knight, is a black and tan. He blends into the floor kind of nicely but, again, it was not planned.

I am so loving all the great furkid pics everyone has posted. MagdalenaLee, that photo should be blown up and framed. It's wonderful!!!

Mine doesn't match anything in the house ... I have very little black or silver/gray in the house, but she is the best behaved little dog, quiet, people/dog friendly, and very smart.

I don't currently have any pets decorating my house, :( , but it sure was fun seeing and hearing about your family members! What a fun collection of photos. Thanks for sharing.

@havingfun ... That's Rocky, he's a smooth-coated collie mix, similar to your retriever .. the other one, Lily, is actually much larger, she's a GSD/Aussie mix.

    Love seeing everyone's pets!

Zephyr says it's obvious why we need two stools.

Bessie reading the paper on the counter (where else?).

So what do you think made her pass out? was it the thought of playing with all those gems? Was it the london report of a crashed ufo? Getting excited/terrified over Halloween?

It might have been after learning how her Pandora shares did in the third quarter.
