What is the sloped arm chair in the left foreground? How about pulling that to the corner by the pony wall? Take a photo and let us see.

The chair is ok there but it really serves no purpose...and it is a comfortable chair. Also it fades into the wall. And now I have a hole where it was. I do think it shows there needs to b something to fill the space and I would really like to do a beautiful fabric there. Thanks for the interest. And hopefully more input

Would you consider small green ceramic ottomans on either side? It doesn't look like you're really sit on a chair there, being so removed from the rest of the seating area. Either ceramic, in keeping with your asian inspired lamps, classic green or contemporary leather ones with storage?

Interesting....yes I am open to considering anything. Although a chair blocks one side so something low would not show. I have Queen Ann chairs , 6, 2 of which used to sit on either side. But it was a little stiff and formal and I want to get away from that. I would like to get away from the chairs but that is another story

Hello - Did you make a mistake and delete the previous post, or did you not like the answers that were given? You've asked this before. If you did not like the answers, may I suggest that you show the entire room.

I agree, you do't need a chair in that corner. Try putting the two chairs together with table in middle (with backs to crendenza).

That corner doesn't actually need a chair. You could put the wooden storage chest w/back against the short wall, perhaps with another wooden item setting atop it, then invest in an end table or a pair of them.

While you're deciding whether or not you want a chair there, be on the lookout for something other than a chair -- a hat rack, a brass umbrella stand or quilt rack to display your favorite quilt, a tall vase with dried arrangement, an attractive wooden barrel or even a wood stool -- think upscale wooden bar stool either tall enough to use the sideboard as a desk top or perhaps even adding a board to the top to the half wall to use it as a "desk".

You could put a snake plant or rubber tree plant or other tall plant in a planter there -- perhaps with casters if that spot gets no sunlight -- casters so you could move it as needed to enable it to get some sun.

If you decide you do need a chair, because that looks like a perfect reading spot (w/lamplight to your left and table top for a book), you should consider a platform rocker or wing back chair w/matching footstool or even a "ladies" size (smaller than average) swivel rocker recliner intended for that purpose. In the alternative, there are some really comfortable and attractive upscale executive chairs that you could easily roll to another part of the room if you need the extra seating while entertaining.

Ideas:

Any particular reason you are not using the sideboard in the dining room? That would seem to be the natural location for it. I have the feeling we could help you sort out both rooms if you'd post more pix.

Is there any reason that you are not showing the entire room. You'd get great advice!

I had thought of a plant but the room does not get allot of light due to large overhangs. And I guess I have gotten to lazy to do much tending!

Lots of nice pieces to work with and great potential here. We can't see much of the subject matter or color in your art pieces, but that is usually where I go to pick up accent colors for a room. In your dining room, I suggest your turn the table so the chairs are not squared up but are forming an "X" with two chairs on the window side and two on the living room side, angled so no backs are directly facing you when in the living room. I like the two fern stands or pedestals. Have you tried them at the pony wall entry to the DR? I'm not a fan of sticks as decor. Could you keep a maidenhair fern alive? They are so soft and pretty and don't need much light. Move the sideboard to the wall where you have the large grouping of art. If you don't like looking at yourself when eating, then organize another grouping of art without mirrors above the sideboard, mixing up some of the pieces from the living room with it. The empty urns from the pedestals would look nice on the sideboard. I would move the sofa from the window to the sideboard location and lower the mirror above it. Turn the swoop-arm chair to face the sofa and use the rocker on the right of the sofa. Move the table to the window area, flanked by the two armchairs that match the sofa. Top the table with the pair of lamps that are now on the sideboard. Can't see much of any of the tables on the window side of your room. Can you take a few more pix so they can be evaluated and moved to the right spot? I like your wall grouping opposite the window which is a great feature. You have lots of pieces in both rooms that should easily fill that wall floor to ceiling once you've completed the arrangement above the sideboard.Consider painting the wall in a gallery color and making it the feature of your living room.

Hey, decoenthusiaste - when you tell her to move the sideboard, which wall are you referring to. The wall in the living room has heat, and there isn't enough room in the dining room for it. Since she has a round table, I think the chairs are placed correctly as shown in her pictures. I think those urns with the curly sticks - look good and artistic.

I agree that she should maybe try a different furniture arrangement. If she puts the sofa on the wall that has the sideboard, it does not look like she will have space on the sides for end tables.

As you saw there is not room for the sideboard in the dinning area. I am sure the room could b rearranged but that may b more than I can undertake at this time. But your suggestions are greatly appreciated and if you any further thoughts pls let me know. Even if I do not do everything now .

I would put nothing there. Like a few others suggested. I agree that it looks balanced and uncluttered without something there.

Wow! You have so many lovely pieces! Hard to know where to start! I guessed the DR as 12 x 12 with a 5' dining table a 22" deep sideboard. Moved your drop leaf by the windows there with a lamp. The two end tables I see in your pix are too short to work with the sofa. They should come to within 1" of the sofa arms. I tried one of them by the swoop arm chair, but you may prefer a ceramic garden stool by that chair. Rocker and floor lamp for a reading corner and I moved the closed bookcase to the other wall, but forgot to put the lamp on top. Great that you have so many lamps, and they can be strategically placed once you have the furniture where you want it. I think your windows are crying for drapes - 4 panels should work nicely. If you can provide accurate measurements, I can rework these two plans for you.

What a lovely room, I can see a clear passion for you room and each piece. I think I would consider the chair you've already chosen, but perhaps add a hint of color with a cushion to make it 'pop' out from the wall. I look forward to seeing what happens next with your project :)

Actually I have done.....nothing. That chair was only put there for the photo...to give some scale. I never meant it to stay. The corner needs a little something, for now there r a couple of baskets. I appreciate your comments and any additional ideas.
