No, you're not being over critical at all. Ask yourself this: Would you do it like that if you did it yourself? If you were a contractor and installed pavers for a living, would you do work like this for a customer? I'd bet the answer to both questions is "hell no." I wouldn't put up with it either, but getting satisfaction from the contractor might be difficult.

Thanks for your reply. I am most likely going to have to live with it unfortunately. What kills me is I loved the concrete paver colors/design I picked. But when the manufacturer messed up and it was going to take 4-6 weeks to get the tiles in, we just couldn't. It already took 14 weeks to build a simple pool with no cage or spa! So, I only had one choice due to I want grays. The travertine is not cool to walk on like I have heard as one of the benefits. I live in Florida, and the cost to seal is very $$$ and needs to be done periodically.:(

I don't think the installer did a great job. You made a great decision by choosing travertine pavers however installer did not fill the bottom of pavers evenly or properly that must be the main reason you have those cracks.

Thank you, would you say that with a job such as this, overall looking over the entire job it would look good, it only looks bad when you look closely? Because, that is what it is to me. I am not happy, but my husband says I need to get over it..LOL

You have a very specific condition that i am familiar with - now that you have noticed the imperfections you can not see anything else...happens all the time. Your friends probably come over and say great things, but all you can see is those stupid cracked stones. God forbid somebody catches a toe on one of those grout joints in the deck - you might just burn the whole thing to the ground. I totally understand how you feel. While there are some legitimate concerns here such as the cracked stones, having one or two imperfect joints in an otherwise beautiful job is something that you will have to live with most likely. If the cracked stones and poor ground joint elevations are systemic throughout the job then this may be different. Is is possible to have a 3rd party company come, on your dollar (not warranty work) and do some repairs to the areas you are concerned about? Maybe this would be a good compromise so you can stop looking at these areas. More pictures would tell the story if you want to post the whole project.
