Are you quilting this weekend? Oct. 3-4

The weather has changed here and it is feeling like fall. I turned off the AC and turned on the heat this morning. It was a little too chilly to be comfortable.

This week I made some of the blocks for the online QALs that I am following. I was reminded of a quilt that I started last year before we moved. I was having some problems with it and packed it up. I have looked every place I can think it could be but can't find it. Now I am on a mission to search till it appears! So frustrating!

Have you ever put something away so well that you can't locate it?

This talk about losing things reminds me of what happened at my mother's a couple weeks ago. She was cleaning out a closet and found this layaway bag from 1994. It had never been opened. LOL she had purchased my son some action figures for Christmas that year and forgotten to give them to him. As he was up there that weekend, he got a 21 year old gift. :) I told him that when I die and he has to clean out my house that he will find all kinds of treasures that I have put away and lost.

I have a quilt on the frame that I would love to complete this weekend. Maybe with this rain, I will have time to do it. Yes Linda, I put stuff away and can't find it. In the past few weeks, I have managed to lose 2 umbrellas...

I also have a quilt on the frame that I should be able to finish quilting today. I have two more in need of quilting.

Linda, at least you can blame moving for the missing project! I recently spent a long time looking for a particular container of pins; finally remembered that I got a new container for them and they were right where they'd always been. Duh.

We have a lot of 'DUH' moments around my house. :-)

This week-end I plan to concentrate on Zelda and straighten up the sewing area.......maybe wind a few bobbins. :-)

Plans changed around here do to the rain/storm. DH & DS were supposed to be scout camping, leaving my a potentially quiet weekend with the girls, but the trip was cancelled.

I have been able to tidy some in my sewing room, and received in the mail the fabric I needed to continue the red/white snowman quilt. Hopefully I'll have time today to work more on that.

Linda, 20+ years ago, I moved. I had a king-sized red-white-blue log cabin completely cut out; packed it up in a brown box. (I can even remember the exact size and look of the box). I have never, ever found that box...even after a second move 10 years ago.

Our weather turned to fall last week - we went to bed Sunday night in summer, and woke up Monday morning to fall! Very strange. Anyway, I am hoping to finish piecing my hexagon log cabin baby quilt this weekend. My Pfaff is in the shop so I won't get to the FMQ on it until it is repaired. I am piecing on my Featherweight and happy to have that machine.

I have so many things I have put away and can't find I wouldn't know where to start!

I found it! It was in a photo box under my two pattern baskets. I couldn't see the box because of the baskets and my DD's sewing machine in front of them. I was so puzzled about its whereabouts because I thought I had looked in every container and cupboard in the room. I had even gone through the closet and looked in the empty bags hanging there.

The silver lining in this is that I found several things that I forgot I had. I found a quilt kit from Connecting Threads that I bought in 2003 or 04 and had not finished. I worked on it last week and finished it. Now I have even more 1930's fabrics for my Farmer's Wife QAL.

I picked up my Janome after its check-up on the way home from the airport yesterday. I had used the two weeks we were gone for its tune-up. My second machine is in Hawaii, and I couldn't think of being machine-less for two weeks if I could help it.

I've got blocks for three quilts cut and packaged to take to Hawaii this winter. I'd like to find at least one more pattern to work on there. When I was in France, the friend we stayed with was so interested in my quilting photos and seemed to appreciate them so much. I'd like to make her a lap quilt as a Thank You. Maybe I'll spend some time this weekend searching for a pattern. I'd also like to make some changing pads for my nephew and his wife. They are the ones for whom I just made the modern, grey quilt. I have some grey fabric left over, so I thought I could made a coordinating pad or two for them. They have a one bedroom apartment, so I know that the baby will be changed on their bed.
