Question about Medallion cabinet price groups

Hi all,

The day we needed to get our cabinet order in (or wait another week) our cabinet supplier informed us that we could not get Medallion Gold Bella cabinets in maple, painted with White Icing Classic as agreed upon, but we'd have to switch to Glenwood. We asked about price difference, and he stated that they were actually more expensive cabinets, but he would waive the difference due to his error.

Fast forward to today, when my husband and I were looking through the Medallion catalog and noticed that (for maple, at least) the Glenwood's were in price group 4 vs. price group 5 for the Bella's. They should be lower in price, and our quote should have dropped.

1. Any idea percentage-wise what the change from price group 5 to 4 should be?

2. Any idea whether you can or can't paint Bella cabinets as we wanted in the first place?

Why would you even consider staying with a cabinet supplier who is less than honest with you?

12crumbles -- that's a reasonable question. I can only assume that it was an honest mistake. Besides, the cabinets are already on the way and the deposit has been made.

Price difference between the two is minimal....and it's not an exact science. Moldings are the same price....as are some modifications and upcharges. If you take the price you paid, and multiply by .975 or .99 that should get you close to the difference. For instance, if you paid $10,000. Multiply X.975=$9750. $250 less.

No, you can't paint Bella...it's a veneer and edgebanded door. The edges are so sharp, it would be difficult to paint AND would chip easier...so switching to Glenwood is the only way to go. Glenwood is a solid maple door so you can paint it.
