well the great news is now that you have done a nice basic white on the kitchen, you can be quite lively on your wall paper or backsplash, let me see if i have anything to share.

I love murals behind the stove, there are classic works by painters, garden photos, cute ones, or these exotic locales. I know it is rough but my dinghy is right on the horizon there.

You gave no color preferences, these are very cheerful, and i bet noone else has them

I am a blue nut, these go great with stainless, have blue and green accessories
I also love the metallics, this is a basic, but i have some wonderful ones with different metals.

I agree with the sea foam green glass tile back splash, would be gorgeous. I think you have done a beautiful job,

I don't think you made a mistake with the counter tops, you just need some contrast. A back splash with a color, or a zen neutral in a deeper tone to contrast & enhance the white. I second the motion for a glass subway tile back splash, the larger kind around 4 x 12 in the color of your choice, something to stand out from the white --also think the green would be a nice more subtle choice, but you can pretty much use any color. Any earth tone such as gray would be nice & you can add pop's of color with a kitchen aid stand mixer, bowl of fruit & veg, some art., simple modern-retro wallpaper

The backsplash addition would add the perfect pop you are looking for... & counter top selection would not be regretted...
More natural looking backsplash would give the zen vibe you are looking for ....& a few accessories to go with it & you are set..
