Remodel floor to ceiling ceramic tile bathroom

I'd like to keep the tile (but not the pink!), replace the pink tub with a walk n shower. HELP!!!!

I'm trying to determine the best way to convert the bath area to a shower, w/o removing the tile that is on the 3 walls (all the way up to the ceiling) surrounding the tub. One tile contractor said he would not guarantee that the current tile would stay in place unless we removed the old tile and added a water barrier then new tile.
The next contractor said it would be all right to leave the existing tile and just add new tile where the tub was.

I have a reglazing specialist coming to assess the situation. They guarantee their work for 5 yrs. are you familiar with this type of work? We had an old tub reglazed years ago and it is still nice, but am not sure about walls, especially in the shower.
