If you actually play the piano in addition to looking at it, I'd try to get it away from all those windows, as the temperature changes will wreak havoc with your tuning.

Not sure about the chair rail, as there are columns and other sort of baroque touches that mean it might all go together. Not sure how to describe your style or make any useful suggestions on decor...

When you play you should face the room so turn the piano around and I agree move it away from the windows if possible . I think the chair rail needs to go and I would do the whole room white and pale gray or taupe with touches of black for a really awesome space , drapes on the windows in silk or faux silk a nice textured rug to give better acoustics. If the piano has to be at the windows then install solar shades to keep the sun out and stillhave a view.

I do play and like facing my courtyard and it's shady so damage isn't an issue but great advice! The room is about 11 x 14 and the only thing that needs to remain is the gray travertine flooring. We will repaint the entry way as well where you see the metallic chocolate brown and I'm thinking I'd prefer no window treatments since I would never close them and love the little bit of natural light that does come in. I will also need to replace that lamp, it's from our mountain house!
