Check your compression! With good compression ((100 psi), good "Fresh" fuel and good "blue" fire you should be getting “Something”... IMO, one or more is not as good
as you might think.

I Feel and Hear Your Arm!!! I
have 2 small 80s Poulan S-25 (one marked Craftsman) that I start maybe twice a
year since going to electric saws at home.
About 07 - 09 is when I stopped using the saws to cut 2+ cords of firewood
per season. I store them with fresh Stabil treated fuel (a year’s mix) and run
them 10-15 min (6 mo – a year) to know they are ready if I need them.

Usually a manual prime at
carb (since they have chokes vs primer bulbs) will start them in 3 pulls. The challenge is not to flood the Eng and
Talk To Your Arm. Lol!

Practicing What I
Preach! I went out this morning and
fired my 1980s chainsaw of 2 needed.
Fired vs running since it has been 6 mo – one year since running and
storing with “One Year Fresh Treated Fuel through the saws (due to my Electric
Saw use at home).

With approx a teaspoon full
of fuel from the tank into the carb (with an eyedropper due to no primer bulb
vs a choke) it fired on 2-3 pulls. Next
week, I will expect both to fire and run with Fresh Treated Fuel Added. Maintaining unused fuel operated equipment
can Be A Pain! BUT! For years storing
the equipment with fresh treated fuel has worked. By theory I should fill the tanks to reduce
the moisture the fuel will attract but I do not. If I plan to store over a year, I run and
drain the equipment “Bone Dry” of all fuel.

This got the Postman’s
attention and his reply, “My Mower will fire but will not run”. I asked, “how old is your fuel and was it
treated”? “It’s over a year and it was not treated”. My reply, “Drain It, Fill It, Prime It, With
Fresh Treated Fuel, Start It And Report Back”. I explained that Ethanol fuel
“is said to be no good and hard on small engine’s systems after 30 days “if
used with untreated fuel” (Stabil or Etc).

My two Old Poulan/Craftsman started
and ran as I expected. With my arms vs
My Son-In-Law’s (w/o going to ER Yet) LOL! The .MPG files of the saws running w/n attach.

1. I ran both 5-10 Min with
fresh Stabil treated fuel. Normally, I “would have” left some of the treated
fuel in the saws for a year as in the past.
The old fuel looked so bad that I felt it might be better to Run Them
Bone Dry. *** Opinions! Bad IMO from evaporating (if fuel will) since
it looked more like oil than fuel.

2. ** I saw a Craftsman
attachment related to Electric Starting past pull start Engines. I’ll have to go back to see if it was related
to Old Equipment or will adapt. I feel
it was and I’ll try to attach it to get some opinions X Safety and Realistic. I feel it was to prevent Kickbacks. If I would try one, it would be w/o the bar
and chain to prime up a saw that had been sitting a year as these. Plus, I have a complete retired engine as the
green one + spare parts.

My Craftsman /Poulan failed to start after ~30 mins of use. It found no compression and a broken piston ring. Junk. Sears wouldn't honor warranty 'cause it had been 'abused'. Live and learn.

ring’s damage to the cylinder. I would
like to see the damage to the cylinder.
My 80’s S25 Poulan locked on a
100 degree day. I did not try to start
it and was able to rebuild for 50.00 for a new piston and ring kit.

I feel I pushed it in the
heat too long. Or got my oil-mix off
using left-over 50:1 boat’s oil mix (vs adding to make it 16:1+ it was rated
for).
