Try getting a Yankees themed comforter or just a tee shirt. Match the paint colors to the fabric colors.

I'm not a Yankees fan so I'm not up on their colors, but the colors in the room look fine. You just need to get the room back together, and don't forget to put some art on the wall to bring your son's personality to the room. Once you do that, it should look fine.

Bedding, art, etc. are decided after paint, and are the easy-to-change factors which make this room suitable for a 10yr old, as well as a teen.

You said that you aren't satisfied, but do you have any idea what it is you don't you like?
I can't see the entire room from the pics you've posted, but it doesn't look too bad to me...
Could it be that the room feels too small, dull, ceiling too low, or some such? This is often the case with grey rooms as well as boldly painted cornices.
If you think something like that os the issue, repainting will probably help.

If you are concerned with the current paint, try shifting to blue walls with white trim and ceiling. Then use grey comforter. Navy & gray pillows. Posters of players. Pennants. But I really agree with Haley, you just need to bring the furniture and decorations into the room.

Maybe paint the walls navy, trim grey, and ceiling white. Or just keep the room as it is and add navy/whit furniture to add color.

You did great! Screams baseball to me:) just get all his boy stuff in there, Yankee posters and pennants and some lively bedding and it will be perfect. Use white matting on the pictures to make them pop off the wall and add some white accents in other areas to give this color scheme a little life, but otherwise, great!

I think it's fine and you can work with it but I would've originally done the reverse with the navy on the walls and the grey on the woodwork and ceiling.

WE just picked out some paint for a teens room and we went lighter with the grey so it would accent the navy paint better. The ceiling could be lighter then the walls and I would also paint the white woodwork next to the floor navy.

Hey Houzzers, didn't you notice the stickers on the windows? If this is a new build she's never had furniture in the room, so quit harping on it. For longevity, I would have kept the trim white, or whatever color the trim is throughout the rest of the house. Paint is an easy to change item when he becomes a fan of another team or another sport. Just keep the envelope (trim and floor) unified with the rest of the home.

Yes so the house is a new construction and I feel that this bedroom looks small and dull compared to my other rooms. I am planning to stain the wood floor dark walnut and then paint trim afterwards. His bathroom is also blue and grey. We went with dark trim and grey wall because we were inspired by the other photo also attached. He also has cove lighting in ceiling. So what should I repaint? Walls, ceiling or floor or all 3? Which color is the bad one Kensington blue or Whitestone or both here? Should ceiling color have been different ?

So how would I make room look bigger? Make it more special? The rest of house has dove white trim I wanted to make this room different and special but I think it looks drab and small now.

I'd make it special with bedding and art - team colors and photos.

You made good paint color choices here. Add a pop of red in the decor somehow. Look at what other projects await you in the "on deck circle" and take a swing at them.

I agree that it looks great. Once you get furniture in here I don't think it will seem so small. The recommendation to add a pop of red will really bring everything together. I would wait to reprint until you are going to redecorate.

So Kensington blue is not too bright? I should not change it to hale navy ?

I love it, keep it as is, adding picture lights over framed posters would look way cool

painting the walls a shade lighter would make the entire room appear brighter, but I don't think that's a major issue; it seems ok to me. if you like, paint the ceiling a bit lighter.
painting the main (lowest) moulding a lighter shade will give the impression of more space, which would be an especially beneficial factor once the wood is stained. Therefore, if you do paint, I'd recommend you paint all the navy a lighter shade

My son loves it too so I guess I'll keep it I just thought the room looked smaller. Next time I'll try navy wall with white trim and grey ceiling

I think your concerns are seeing the room empty. I remember hating my daughter's room when it was first painted. Then, I found myself going in there just to lay on the bed with her because her room was so peaceful yet cheerful. It looks great now, but,if it truly bothers you, I find I often don't like windows trimmed in a different color. I also wouldn't be afraid of dark colors, they can provide an amazing backdrop to show off the the things you love (much like white in an art gallery). Consider painting the window wall navy. I can't tell how the walls are configured...Maybe one or two walls navy, Also, depends on the layout of the furniture. Your House is Amazing!!!

I find if I don't like the paint, it never grows on me, but it sounds like your son does and that's the important thing. It does feel dark, but that can also be called cozy! It will be especially appreciated as he gets a bit older, as it doesn't feel like a little kids room. I would go with a light rug and not too themed...use classic bedding, light drapery and then let him have fun with pillows and posters., trophies on a bookshelf, etc.

How about some pinstripes, maybe on one wall?

Even my painter agreed he doesn't like the Kensington blue trim. So I will either change trim to hale navy or dove white like the rest of the house and bring in navy with curtains and maybe hale navy in center of trey ceiling. I think the white trim will make their room look bigger. Will hale navy in center part of ceiling be a good dramatic effect?

All a boy needs is a TV, his X Box, a bed to lay on with his lap top, bookcases for stuff, and a door for privacy. Before you ditch the paint, which looks good to me, pull the room together. Frame black and white vintage Yankee posters for wall or buy sports decal. There are some nice comforter sets that will carry him through to his teen years.

The blue is really the wrong shade. Every time I see it, it's bothers me. It's too blue for the room and it's bathroom pictured below. That's why I think hale navy may work better.

Nice room. I am in total agreement with you regarding the trim color, it is bright and seems disconnected from the adjacent bath. I think a gray/blue would relate better to the bath---if you want to add blue, then I suggest painting the ceiling a soft but bright blue like your inspiration photo. For trim check Benjamin Moore's Stormy Sky, Gunmetal, and Rocky Coast. Choose the one which pairs best with the bathroom hues. For ceiling blue, BM'S Paradise View and Mediterranean Breeze might be favorable. Hope you find this helpful. Good Luck!
