Okay Skybird, I finally ate the tomato! Keep in mind I'm a smoker so, my "tasting" is probably not the best. I am also not one of them there high falutin' culinary people like you see on the food network, nor am I a food critic, so, this is my best attempt, lol.

First of all, it was a gorgeous tomato. While the outside I thought was kind of an ugly brown/green/yellow puke color, it was an amazing surprise to see what it looked like inside. I believe that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I will post them soon (they are on my phone).

As for tasting, for the sake of this "critique" I tried one big chunk without and additions, but I usualy (lightly) salt my tomatoes. It seemed to me that "plain" was slightly bland, but, like I said because of my bad habits, my taste buds probably don't fire on all cylinders. For the rest of pieces, I added a touch of cracked sea salt and it brought out a lot more flavor. It was still very mild tasting, reminding me of a yellow or orange tomato, but it was good and sweet, not like overpowering or "sugary" though, and little to no acidity at all, once again, reminding me of a good orange tomato.

The most surprising part was the green parts (you'll see them in the picture) had a very fresh, almost grassy (in a good way, trust me) flavor. If that is was you find with a more truly green-when-ripe tomato I would definitely grow one of those, and grow an orange for the sweet/mild flavor spectrum. The two different flavors are very good, but the combination seemed little disconnected to me.

So there you have it! My tremendously unofficial review of the ananas noir tomato!
