Apple seedlings & winter?

I used the baggy and refrigerator method (although some had already sprouted inside the apple) on some store bought apple seeds; just out of curiosity to see if any would actually grow. I had a pretty high germination rate, so I planted the ones that had roots outside in a pot. Alot of them got burned so I kinda forgot about them but now I noticed I have one that has made it. My question is should I keep it out during the winter or bring it in? It's only about 5 inches tall with 6 leaves. The apple is either a Granny smith or Red delicious I've never grown apples before so it would be nice if you could aslo give me a couple of tips about soil, watering, maintenance....ect. I live in Northeast GA (zone 8a) and our winters are pretty mild except for occasionally ice but that's mostly in Jan & Feb.
