lucidos is dead on. You might wish to keep the mirror, but art is what is going to give you color. you can make the art or buy the art, please try to buy originals if you buy, this is what will give your room color and beauty, right now you have the backdrop, just not what it is for.

I find mirrors in dining rooms to be a little odd. Watching yourself eat is not get. I agree that art is needed. The clock is better suited to a kitchen or entryway. Can the bench come away from that wall at all? What's the yellow thing behind it?

I love Holly's suggestions on artwork. I couldnt agree more as a designer. You need a wow piece of art in that back wall where the mirror is currently. The art suggestions are very good. Some other changes I would make is removing the mirrror all together, it seems to small for the space. I'm not sure how big the space is , but it would be great if you could flip the dining table and put the settee on the back wall with a big piece of artwork above it. That would really make a statement. You have great taste as the pieces are very beautiful! You just need to finish it off with the right details and orientation. If you don't have the space to move the table, its fine , you will just need to add visual interest with artwork. I would also look into a bigger mirror for the wall behind the chairs, something rectangular about 4' or longer will really look nice. Here are some fun dining room inspirations. Best of luck! It appears you have a shelf behind the settee. If so, remove it. Also the settee might be too large. Will it slide under the table? If not it is too big. Yes, hang mirror horizontally on same wall but keep it at bottom of mirror at top of chair level.

I would also look into changing your light fixtures to something rectangular, It will really compliment the dining table nicely if you have the same linear effect . Try something like this:

I would remove the shelf behind settee and place your mirror horizontally on that wall. On the large wall, I think I would add a large number of prints - love the arrangement below. Have you tried your table the other way - with not having chairs on the end, it may feel more balanced without chairs in this set up.

I would keep table in same position, it doesn't appear that there is room for a decent pathway around the ends. Do not move mirror to behind settee, people would much rather see art than themselves. You might even try switching the chairs and bench, depending if the entry into room is facing mirror. If entryway is on wall behind chairs, leave as is.

SA had lovely decor, but the mirror showed the light fixtures and part of the painting to the side. I just think it is much easier to fill the space with art, forget the mirrors.

I'd remove the clock behind the settee and add a large piece of colorful art. Then I'd find a table runner to pick up on the colors in the artwork.
