I haven't heard of any cool white Edison bulbs, not even the ones that are Edison style but use LED. Sorry!

Our electrician didn't ask us what color LED we wanted in the ceiling cans and ended up with Daylight. It would be great in my art studio, but in my kitchen - not so much. We have 2 pendants with Edison lights and a light over the sink with a warm white LED. People don't even think to specify the color preference (we sure didn't). Now the kitchen finishes don't work together properly. Our plan is to change the ceiling LEDs to a warm white.

Edison bulbs and LEDs really will never work well together two completely different colors off light no mater what LED bulb you choose and by the way the daylight ones are the best IMO so that colors do not change when the lights are on. You could try warm LEDS to see if that works.FYI I hate the color of edison bulbs everything takes on a yellow hue.

beseaside , that is your best bet. Changing the ceiling to warm LED. In time you could change out the pendants to led .They all bet fluorescent .

Seems like I'm not going to get a match! What about using incandescent bulbs in clear glass fixtures? Those come in non-yellow hue and look good color wise, but is it a no-no to be looking at an incandescent bulb in a glass fixture? Are there any incandescent bulbs with interesting filaments?

McBerg what did you end up using? I am struggling with the very same problem. Two glass pendants over our island. I got Edison bulbs for them and returned them as they were way too dim and yellow for my liking. All other lights in the kitchen (recessed) are LED. It seems to be impossible to find nice looking lightbulbs for clear glass pendants that are bright enough!

Actually I found some that work pretty well! I got these at Lamps Plus, you should be able to order online from anywhere. A bit pricey but they were the best compromise we have found.

Just found cool white Edison style bulbs. Agree, the electricians don't seem to care or consult preference for lighting temperature (we'll say many, maybe not all). Have to be your own advocate or get whatever is easier for them.

Daylight (4000K+) is for Dunkin Donuts. Never let a tradesperson make aesthetic choices for you.

Daylight is for anyone who prefers it. I don't particularly like warm light for most situations, I just don't feel like I'm seeing things accurately. Warm lights especially bother me in kitchens where seeing color accurately can be important to judging ripeness or doneness.

these bulbs are 3000k and are perfect in our white modern home. The warm bulbs made everything feel sleepy.

I know this thread is old but I'm hoping maybe someone who purchased the Lamps Plus filament bulbs linked above will chime in...I've tried Edison bulbs that are way too orange and LED filament bulbs that "jumped" - hard to explain it's like they were buzzing (visually, not audibly), kinda like a strobe light on a very small scale. It drives me nuts! My husband can't see it at all but then my 4yo said "look Mama, my hand has rectangles on it" and I felt vindicated ;) So anyway, if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, can you tell me me if the Lamps Plus bulbs do that? Thanks!

Hi B Baldwin, Yes! Mine do that too. Actually, it seems like only 1 is doing it. This is bizarre timing because I was about to order a new bulb today to see if that fixes the problem. We have multiple recessed LEDs in our house that started to make a humming sound. Our electrician said they were bad and we had them swapped out. I'm surprised how many it's happened to since we just remodeled and they are all very new. These Lamps Plus Filament bulbs seem to flicker and drive us nuts.. we have to turn them off. They look great when they aren't flickering. I'm going to order some new bulbs and hope they work better. I haven't found any other options cool white options out there.

None. I used this same post and the ones at lamps plus were not available. I ended up using halogen bulbs from a local retailer to give the color I wanted but lost the look of the edison bulbs.

I ended up finding some on Amazon. took a while to find the same fit and bulb style but with a lot of digging I finally found them for a good price. I love them!

Kevin indicate color of the light bulb, as follow:

• 2200K: Warm white
• 2700K: Soft white
• 3000K: Soft White Glow
• 4000k: Natural daylight
• 5000K: Cool white

So, to look for your favorite color, simply type "3000K Filament Bulb" and you will find the bulb you want. I prefer Amazon since they have a wide range of light bulb and brand to choose.

Lumen indicate brightness of the bulb. Here is the rule:

• Floor: 20 lumen per squarefoot
• Table and Raised Surface: 30 lumen per squarefoot
• Desk and Task Lighting: 50 lumen per suqarefoot.

These rules are not always applicable since furniture, wall color and other small lighting fixtures can affect the brightness of the light bulb, but at least you have some number that you can based on.

For example, 300 sqft living room with 6 flood light hole. You will need at least: 300 sqft x 20 lumen = 6000 lumen total. So each light bulb need at least: 6000 lumen / 6 light hole = 1000 lumen for each bulb.

I should have put 5000K and up is cool white. I saw people put a lot of name between the gap from 3000K-5000K: bright white, daylight white, neutral white...

Problem is 5000K is maximum I can find for filament bulb.

You guys just saved me hours of headaches. Legit have been running all over the city looking for bulbs that work. All i needed to do was apparently ask you guys.

I just ordered some more that are 4000K instead of the 5000K so it's not as bright and see which ones I like better.

I also had been looking for a cool solution for my Edison bulbs. Thank you Hien Ngoc for posting the link. I am so happy! My dining room looks so much nicer.

Update. I got the 4000k neutral daylight dimable bulbs. They are a little less bright but we have decided to put dimmers on these so we can tone down or up when we like. I will post a pic when everything is installed.

I'm so glad I found this post! I just ordered the ones on amazon that sdwilkins927 recommended. Hope they look good over my kitchen sink. The only other lighting in my kitchen is the LED hi hats.

I'm having the same problem! Just had a fixture installed over my kitchen table, it is clear glass, so needs a bulb like this. But does it have the yellow lines in it when the fixture is off?? And what is a good bright light, without being too cool?

So glad to have found this thread. I just remodeled kitchen with recessed lighting...very bright! However, I did the all glass pendants as well and I hate the yellow amber look. The don't give off very good light for over a counter and they just add a funny feel to a kitchen. The yellow is probably a great color for a relaxing room but a kitchen is where you need to see what you are doing.

I have a chandelier with T8 E12 Candelabra base bulbs that give off an orangey-yellow light. Can't stand it! Anyone know if there's a brighter light option for these small, slim bulbs?

I found ththe same bulbs on Wayfair in daylight temp. They are not cheap.

Still looking! Need small chandelier size base (E12) but do not want candle shape. Really would like the traditional teardrop Edison shape AND want bright white! Any suggestions?

Have you tried Home Depot? I found the ones you are looking for there in bright white.
