I love the look. I really wanted one too, with a farmhouse apron sink, but my contractor talked me out of the farmhouse apron sink so my fabric went out the door with it. Instead, I went with fabrics in a window seat since I knew I wanted fabric somewhere in my kitchen. I've also seen fabric incorporated in the kitchen by hanging it behind a glass door on a cabinet, almost like a window treatment. I'm with Fori - if you want it, go for it! I'm sure you'll find a way to make it work for you! BTW, LOVE that first insp. photo!

You NEED to have fabric under the sink in your kitchen. I would be so disappointed if you didn't!

Good question! Yeah I could see that happening, especially with that first picture. I think if you could make the curtain tuck behind the wood somehow, like in the last picture, it would not be an issue.

Or what about sewing in a small magnetic weight in the bottom hem of the curtain in the corners? Agree with Fori that your vintage style is just screaming for a sink skirt!

Saw your sink cabinet on your other thread and how it will have the middle piece of wood after you take off the doors. So maybe you can put tiny tension rods between the sides and middle? This is the first picture I found with the middle piece. But you could just do the Velcro strip behind the top drawer fronts and so curtain is tucked in more.

It looks like another really annoying thing to clean to me, but I totally support you having it in your kitchen! I think if it wasn't as full as the first fabric, and was a fabric with enough drape (again the first one is too stiff and sticks out) it would be cute and not get in the way.

I have one with the dishwasher on one side and trash door on the other with no problems. I bought inexpensive brackets and attached them above the opening on the inside of the cabinet so the fabric sits back from the face frame a little bit.

I LOVE it!!! If I had a farm sink, I'd totally do that.

Thank you all for the "thumbs up" on the fabric! I don't have a farm sink, but there are those small pull outs....so I think it will work. Definitely plan to try it!

I finished painting most of the kitchen walls. I really like the color! The more we all talk about it, I think we will paint the base cabinets a periwinkle blue....which looks great with the green. Add some pretty fabrics, vintage aprons, etc. I think we'll be getting close to finishing.

Water should be back on this weekend! :)

I absolutely love the idea of the periwinkle color on the lower cabinets. It will look great with the wood uppers.

I found this picture. It is not quite the right shade of blue, but shows blue base cabs with wood uppers. Oh and a jadeite colored vase!

What color are you painting the beadboard backsplash? I think painting it a cream color would look good as it would bring in a light neutral color to the space. Doesn't your granite have some creamy white flecks in it? A calm cream backsplash will allow your vintage canisters and other pieces on the countertop to stand out.

The colors in the fabric curtains will tie everything together. I know you will find the perfect print LL!

Sorry. I had them as a child and I wouldn't want it again....I would carve up the wooden doors first.... I presume you are not going to have an under the sink trash because the curtain will definitely find its way into the trashcan and be spotted with junk from the trash along the way. You understand you are committing to washing it on a regular basis-correct?

We are living in a small building we turned into living quarters on our property while we are building. We put in a small kitchen with a very small budget ( entire kitchen including appliances for 2k) and I did this under our sink to save money. I love it! It's on a tension rod and never gets caught up in dishwasher. It's outdoor fabric, easy to keep clean, just pull it off tension rod every once in awhile and wash

I apologize in advance for all of the time you'll waste on her blog. I got sucked in earlier when I realized she had more posts than I thought!

I'm definitely a textile lover and think it looks amazing... hear it?... BUT could see all the above mentioned problems... with that considered and listening to your excitement about it... many things are worth a little extra work! Do you have the doors? I mean you can always revert back to them, right?
You can also find a great fabric that will tie all you colors together...

I think it's incredibly adorable. So I thought, what if I had them in my kitchen. Well, first of all, my cats would be in there all the time, possibly messing with the trash bin, rooting around for cool things, knocking stuff over. They might tire of it, as they do of many things. So, if you have animals, just something to think about.

Maine Susan, one of my cats can open all cabinet doors, including inset. The day before yesterday he knocked a bypass closet door off its track. While there's nothing he can't get into, the fabric would open the door as it were for my other cat. It would be constant party time under the sink.

I say go for it! We are doing it here, it is an easy way to get color into the room to tie everything together. I do plan on making 2 though....That way I always have a clean one to put up when one needs laundered. Of course, it will have to have cabbage roses on it too!

I would want as little fabric as possible in a kitchen, just because it can get so nasty so fast. Fabric under the sink would catch every drip of food or dishwater when you load your dishwasher. It would get dripped every time you slosh at the sink, flick your hands after washing...or if you ever get a little crazy with the mop bucket not to mention the greasy dust that accumulates in every kitchen...It's really easy to say "I'll just be careful" but real life is a little messy under the best of circumstances even before spills and accidents, pets and children.

It's a really cute look, I just don't think it would stay that way for long or without a lot of effort.

If you want some visual interest...maybe you could do an accent color or let a child in your life paint some kid art on the door...or a metal insert, or glass...or anything. Just make sure you can clean it!

It's really not a big commitment... you put it up, if you don't like it... take it down... an easy switch! Having two (even different) is a great idea, and easy care fabric.
I think it 'looks' great and want to do it under my laundry sink... if I ever get to that area...

I've been planning to do it on laundry sink as well. Mine is one of those ugly slop sinks on metal legs. I am hoping to paint the white exterior of the sink another color and attach a skirt around the bottom. In mind it sounds good, but not sure how it will look. Trying to make a silk purse out of sows ear.
