It's a nymph of one of the Assassin Bugs, Tiffany. He's busy helping you, even at that tender age.

It'll be easier to ID specifically when it reaches adulthood.

"Assassin bugs are 1/2 to 2 inches long and have a curved mouth part that
looks like a scimitar. They may be brown, tan, red, blackish yellow and
often bi-colored. The curved mouth part acts as a siphon. After the bug
catches its prey in its spiny or sticky front legs, it will stick the
mouth part into the insect and suck out its liquids. The largest of the

I watched it do that, it was so obvious and fascinating! And the common name (or cultivar name, can't figure it out yet) of the plant on which it found an aphid to eat is purple scimitars (Tripogandra.)

I was trying to move more to the plant with aphids. Sounds like I was lucky I didn't get stung.

I can testify to the fact that their stabbing beak can deliver a painful wallop. They inject the same stuff (digestive juices?) when defending themselves that they do when attacking their victims.
