There is a sleeve at the top of the noren. So you can use a rob to hold it up.

How thick and durable is the material? Can you see through the material a little? Or is it completely opaque?

You can see through the material somewhat. At least shapes and shadows of the items in the room behind it. It is more see through if there is back lighting. It would not cover up objects completely, like an electrical panel on the wall.
