If you go to a lampshade shop, they will be able to change the harp for you so that you don't need the really tall shade that the current harp was meant for. I agree with Aja that black paint could help update the lamp. I would then look at drum shades

i would paint the metal a matte black too then you are bringing out the color in the marble

RH has black drum shades that are gold inside, gives a lovely light! Would be perfect for this lamp.

I would paint the metal gloss black. Add a white shade and stencil a black design of your choice or purchase.

I really like the idea of painting the base but how about a grey color with a grey lampshade. Do get a lower harp. Using grey would leave the focus on the marble, I think black would drown it out. A shade with a slight flare would echo the shape of the base. Nancy

Depending on the room's other furnishings, gray could be very nice!!

Replacement harps and finials are available at Loews for only a few dollars.

To work with the navy Oriental, I would paint it creamy white with a creamy shade. This will soften the lamp and make the marble look stunning.

Perhaps a bronze with a linen drum shade. This goes with the organic nature of the material - marble - bases.

Just a cleaning tip, Marble may be freshen with a paste of baking soda , a few drops of water, and a washcloth!

Dry the lamp with a clean rag to prevent streaks or water spots from drying onto the lamp.

You certainly have beautiful lamps!

These look like alabaster. Cleaning the brass will freshen them up, or painting it black. Definitely a black shade, and take the lamp with you when you buy them.
