Here's a before and after pic of our fireplace makeover. The green marble was painted with flat black, the fireplace door had the brass blackened out with semi satin black grill spray paint, and the wood mantle was painted white. My painter/decorator had the brilliant idea to add the stone on the wall which kicked it up a notch. I'm very pleased with change overall but especially with how the flat paint took to the marble. No sanding, just primed and painted with 2 coats of flat black paint.
