Can the paneling be removed?

Yes!

Do you plan to rent it again or move into it. Standard fixtures sometimes don't translate to mobile homes, so you'd be wise to find a nearby supplier for mobile home parts.

Was the living room wall previously open? If so, what's behind it. I'd paint the paneling and change the ceiling.

I don't know if the Christopher Lowell show is on cable or Netflix somewhere but I think he did a project that was a single or double-wide over a series of shows.

Make the barn the residence.

Great ideas! Yes we did alot of cleaning, and priming before painting. Our budget is to stay under 10k. All of the walls are original, and all flooring needs to be replaced.

I would love to turn the barn into a home. Except we would need a new new barn. Thanks for the idea of tying the barn color into the mobile home color!

If you paint the paneling you must: clean with TSP (tri-sodium phosphate) rinse, let dry, lightly sand, tack off sanding dust, prime with Zinzer or Kilz (maybe 2 coats) paint with 2 coats of your color. To open things up, I would take the angles of the doors that don't open all the way to the ceiling and take them on up. Remove that angle trim piece from that area in the living room that can be seen from the kitchen. That will eliminate some of the trailer look too. Are you going to live here or rent it out? What is the style of furniture you will use? That may influence what you do with it.
