Mustard color must go! What do I choose?

This is the house we are considering purchasing. The kitchen is red and the whole great room attached is mustard. I don't know if the previous owners were huge fan of hamburger condiments, but the colors must go! Looking for a more elegant look. I don't like the fireplace colors either and the curtains will be removed as well. Looking for design help, what color palate would you choose? The whole first floor is pretty open so I would like a more unified or complimentary palate. Thank you!!!

Soft whitish/beige to complement the ceramic tile and contrast the white trim.

Huntington White is a good color from BM.

A blue/green/gray color palette would be lovely. The mantle is nice as is, perhaps a new tile surround for it.

I think we all agree on a neutral light color. Are you buying all new furniture or bringing in some large pieces, such as chairs and sofa? How about your art? I would consider those things before painting such a large area.

Here are some of the furnishings and colors from my current home, which I love and will be using in the new house. I love our current paint colors SW Kilim Beige and Latte. I was thinking of using them again but wanted to perhaps add a soft color in the kitchen which is currently red and I dislike with the cherry cabinets.

If you love your current colors and will be bringing the same furnishings, then I would say, bring them to the new house. You might consider extending one of the colors into the kitchen. I think they would go with the cabinets. Check them out.

Kilim Beige and Latte are very verstile colors. You might want to go a couple of shades darker on the paint strip for your kitchen, that way the tonal values wouldn't clash.

Beware of colors that you love in a new environment. Just because you love the color in your current house doesn't mean it will look the same in a different place. Keep an open mind a test a swatch out before committing to the whole room. Your current colors are a perfect starting off place though.

I use a lot of relaxed khaki by SW. Little darker than kilim beige. You have a lot of tan in your furnishings and decor. I'd make sure you go a shade lighter or darker than the sofa color for contrast.
