Brushed nickel is exactly what it sounds like: "brushed". So while the general tone of the two metals is similar, the finish will give it away.

However, if you're handy and don't mind experimenting, by one SS knob and a cheap wire brush for either a dremel, a grinder or a drill. Try brushing up the stainless and you might be surprised at how similar they look.

I think the pulls are brushed stainless steel.

General rule of thumb then, if you can't tell the difference, it doesn't matter.

If it is still irking you, try brushing both of them, see if they'll look identical.

Audrey S - what did you end up doing! I am in the middle of a remodel and running into this problem as well. I have stainless appliances, a Kohler Whitehaven white farmhouse sink, brushed nickel Moen kitchen faucet, white Shaker cabinets and medium hardwood floors. We are doing bar pulls on the lower cabinets but wanted to do knobs on the top. The bar pulls are stainless, but I cannot find the knobs in stainless. This makes me think that maybe I'd better try to find brushed nickel bar pulls, which will be probably 4x the cost. Has anyone else used part brushed and part stainless pulls on their white cabinets? Any photos? Comments? Thank you!
