Vietnamese Tide

I believe that it was laundrymitch that posted a picture of Vietnamese Tide from Amazon. I purchased a bottle of liquid from my Mexican supermarket, and I wanted to throw the ingredient list at you to see if this is phosphate filled, or phosphate free. The bottle has a sticker with ingredients listed in English as every word on the packaging is in Vietnamese.

Water, Sodium Alkyl Ethoxylate Sulfate, Sodium Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonate, Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate, Disodium Distyrylbiphenyl Disulfonate, Citric Acid, Blue Dye, Polystyrene based latex, 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, 2-methyl-2H isothiazole-3-one, Flavoring Agents, and other additives.

The bottle doesn't have the usual "phosphate-free" looking banner that many Tide bottles have, so I'm wondering if I scored a find. I haven't used the Tide yet, I will report back, although I find the fragrance EXTREMELY floral with a heavy dose of that fake rose scent that seems to be popular in the east. It was $5, so not a heavy loss.

Why would it have "flavoring agents"?

Thing is P&G does not have to list phosphates in foreign detergent. .they used to but once they couldnt stop the importing to the US they took it out of the ing list .so its hard to tell

I figured phosphates might fall under the "Other Additives". It doesn't have zeolites, so maybe?? I stocked up on plenty of Mexican detergent but alas, FOCA is entirely libre de fosfatos :(

Foca used to be loaded with phosphates..but no more unless you find old stock..and I'll tell you talk about an excellent detergent. WOW.

mamap, I bought a $0.69 bag of FOCA to doctor up. You spoke highly of it in another post. I really want to give it a try.

Yes add STPP to it at a ratio of 1part Stpp to 2 parts Foca..and for even a more wow add 1 part stpp to 1 part Foca ..try it on whites with hot water..banging whites.

I have some vietnamese Tide with Downy powder. I don't know about phosphates but it's super sudsy. I think it's more for hand washing? It does seem to be an excellent toilet bowl cleaner :).

Sandy...I'm pretty sure that Vietnamese Tide with Downy powder has phosphates..I've always been curious..what does it smell like? Lol @toilet bowl cleaning with Tide..haha

I should have sent you some! It's way too sudsy for any FL. It's plain white, no flecks and doesn't have a strong scent. It smells like old tide with a little old downy but very faint.

I feel bad throwing stuff away. So, yeah. Toilet bowl cleaner :) Those enzymes work on everything.

If you have any left Sandy..save me some for another time...I've contimplated buying a bucket someday..but shipping is outragious.

How msny of you notice I type to fast so my A' end up S' s and I never use spell check..lmao

Maybe those Flavoring Agents are so that the product tastes extremely bitter to prevent children from drinking it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if it contains Citric Acid, it's Phosphate Free.

P&G went on a "liquid compaction" initiative years ago, and all but removed phosphates from almost every *remaining* market in liquid detergents.

I do believe... the Vietnamese Powder still contains Phosphates. As does the Mexican Ariel Powder for the time being.

With that said... I wouldn't let it spoil your fun. You've got a rare find in your hand, and I bet it offers good cleaning. You could also try spiking it with STPP, for fun ;)
