My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Did I get a fair quote? Survey, Engineering, Design oversight...

My husband and I are in the process of finding a design/build team to oversee a master bedroom/bath addition to our home. We have a 1950's brick ranch and are adding an L shaped addition that will measure ~450 sqft. We live in the Denver Metro area. We just received an initial design proposal this morning with a few quotes for initial costs for the project:


Architectural Fee: $5500.00

Non-Architectural inclusions:

Survey: $1200.00

Engineering: $2000.00

Design Oversite and Cabinet plans: $1500.00

Total Design Fee: $10,200.00


What are your thoughts on these figures based on your experience? Fair? High?....
