Recommendations for wood trim, paint colors

We are remodeling this 70's beach house with a prow great room, to include new windows, wood trim and interior paint. We will leave the beautiful cedar ceiling, but what other changes can we make to the room to update and modernize? My husband wants to go with matching wood trim on the windows, but I'm not sure if this will be too much wood? The exterior windows will have a darker gray/blackish brown trim. The fireplace has been replaced with an updated grey gas stove, and the brick will be refaced with stone or slate. Any and all recommendations welcome!

I would do the window wall and trim all the same color to cut out the lines around it, this will keep the eye from jumping around when looking out to that beautiful view, I suggest Bm simply white for walls and all trim and doors

Thank you Brandi, that definitely helps and makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, my husband is stuck on wood trim for the windows, but if we go with wood, we will close the spaces between the windows. If wood in that room, can we safely use white doors & window wraps for the remainder of the house?

What a beautiful space! My only suggestion would be to update your light fixtures.

Painting it all white would help it to feel of light, airy and beachy. It would also allow the view to be the star of the show.

Karen, yes, we will definitely update the lights and ceiling fan. David, if only I could convince my husband to go with white; this house is in the NW and a Lindal style; he wants to maintain the somewhat craftsman look in the great room, but will support me in white trim for the remainder of the house. Pulling off a cohesive look throughout the interior of the house is beyond my expertise. We have an architect working on the exterior update. Not even sure of the "style" of this house.
