First of all, I think you need bigger artwork on the walls - maybe a bigger mirror next to the door! Secondly, what do you think of painting or replacing the chairs? Heavier dark chairs with maybe a longer table? Change the doors on the corner cabinet or better yet, remove them altogether! What do you think?

Paint would make the biggest impact. Perhaps a rich blue grey color. Ditch the tablecloth. Move the table to the center of the room. A large colorful piece of artwork where the mirror/photo frame is now. A pretty rug. An interesting centerpiece for the table. Depending on the color scheme you choose, spray paint the chairs and table (perhaps an oil rubbed bronze color).

I agree with getting bigger artwork, Also, yes, I definitely need a whole new dining set, not just chairs. It would be feasible to replace the corner cabinet doors. I am nervous about removing the cabinet altogether in case I damage the wall in the process. Don't have the budget for replacing the walls now. About the colour scheme, The floors are a green and cream laminate. Not sure exatly what paint color to use. Should I pick up from the green or the cream or do a different hue altogether?

Wow, that floor doesn't look green at all on my computer (I thought it was blue). Scratch the grey paint color then. It is pretty cheap to replace the floor in such a small area. Perhaps look into vinyl floor tiles. If not, it looks like the walls are already cream. Try to match the paint color to the green in the floor instead.

Vinyl floor tiles or vinyl faux wood are not terribly expensive and easy to install. You can also buy a used table and chairs on Craigslist or eBay and even resell your own there!

Center the table under the fixture. Add a nice colorful rug. Hang a larger art piece. Place a large floral on the table.
