Size and shape of rug under kitchen table

We have newly installed hardwood floors and a new round kitchen table (48" diameter), that extends to an oval shape with a leaf. What size and shape of a rug would be best for this situation? It will be used round most of the time, but extended when entertaining. Thanks for your help!

10 years agolast modified: 10 years agoI would go with a rectangle sisal type rug; I've always had one in my kitchen and feel it really warms up the space. About every two years I replace as they are not expensive; not because they are dirty (easy to wipe off spills), but just becuase they start to look worn out. You do though have to vacume them, so not as easy and leaving the floor bare.
