I wouldn't use the black liner with the other decorative bar, especially right below it.

Agreed. Black is too stark. I also don't think you need the rope trim...can't help but see how much harder it would be to clean! What are you going for in your kitchen? In the first post, the upper pic is subtle and actually has a little casual vibe with the trim as it looks like dots and dashes. The second pic is great if you want something more modern and geometrical. The lines are much more subtle than the black you chose but the multiple use of them adds interest without drawing a line. Either is great.

Another thing, since you are choosing such a bold contrast, I'm wondering if you aren't feeling like there isn't enough color in your scheme. Everything is very beige/grey. Like the first pic, look around and see if there is an opportunity for an open shelf or glass front and paint the inside of that space a contrasting color - as bold or pastel as you want but something that makes you feel happy. I'm not a fan of neutrals but think they are pretty necessary for kitchens so looking for places where you can add your own personality without committing to something expensive is a must. I think BeverlyFLADeziner has a good point. Possibly a more subdued backsplash won't compete as much with the pattern in the granite. The backsplash samples (especially in your top photo) make it appear a softer white might be a better choice.
