Not enough photos. Can't see the whole room. This looks like it functions more as a music room / small parlor than a family / living room. I assume that is the function you want.

I agree the couch kind of dominates. Is it pink? I would either replace it, or replace the loose pillows with coordinating pillows with some pattern. Maybe try that first with pillows that can be returned.

The straw box coffee table is BAD. Especially with the seagrass rug (which I love). Get rid of it yesterday. It looks like the leftover box you would end up with when you purchase something cutesy that comes in it, like homemade candles. It sticks out like a sore thumb, because everything else is nice. It looks like a lovely home.

I also don't love the olive jar with the sticks. Maybe keep the jar, but lose the sticks. I am guessing this is something you have had for a while? Maybe you aren't seeing with with fresh eyes?

It is a nice room and I get a sense it is enjoyed.

Yeah, the sticks and the plant are competing. And the plant should go in a nicer container. But I think the room already looks nice.

I am having a similar problem with what I call our sitting room. It's the room you come straight into from the front door. I also have a piano and that and the curtains are also all I require to stay so I really found your post exciting because you have the same or similar challenge as me. Also the large window. So what I would recommend is a more narrow couch. It seems the space in the room, like mine is kinda tight. So I'm going for a more narrow sofa. I'd also replace the chair with one that is more formal. Having a grand piano is sophisticated style so you should so with that style furniture. I agree with the previous post that the pot the plant is in and olive jar vase need to go. Maybe get a small marble top coffee table and a large center piece for it. You can get pillows that go with your curtains and whatever you hang on your wall. In your room you could go with a large mirror or several different sized framed art. I'd get a light colored rug to match the color in your curtains to pull it all together. Hope this helps.

I am going to add a chandelier. Good suggestion. I have also removed little trunk and have my glass coffee table back in it's place.

Awesome! It will look great and make the room come together. New rug, big picture on the wall and throw pillows and it will look great.
