Bachelor needing studio design help: brown, grey, black, wood mixture

Hi,

So I'm a young-20's guy and I'm moving into a pretty small studio. I'm on a pretty tight budget, but I don't my apartment to look like an IKEA showroom or my mom's house. I generally like modern, contemporary, or transitional design, but I'm terrible at envisioning the finished product in my head. I'm okay with a little bit of random, as long as it doesn't look too dumb.

Here's what I'm kind of thinking, but I'm worried I can't have black, grey, dark espresso wood, and pops of color in the same room, so any advice on which direction to go or what to cut out would be great. Some of my ideas are because of the budget.

- Black faux leather platform bed and headboard. (cliche, I know, but I found a cheap one and have always wanted one) http://www.wayfair.com/Samantha-Platform-Bed-ZIPC1629-ZIPC1629.html

-Light-ish grey loveseat. I'm thinking I'd like to maybe introduce some pops of color with pillows.. Does it matter what colors? or should I stick with grey/black/white?

-Grey tv stand. I think its different and cool, but not sure if it will go at all.http://www.wayfair.com/Monarch-Specialties-Inc.-60-TV-Stand-I-2574-INZ1005.html

-Dark brown desk. I really like the desk, but it's dark brown... the conflicts are picking up now. http://www.wayfair.com/Wildon-Home-%25C2%25AE-Computer-Desk-911228-911229-CST17637.html

-Leather chair. I'm not sure if I want to commit to brown and try to introduce it as a color (espresso specifically), or if I should go with black.http://www.wayfair.com/Newman-Arm-Chair-ZIPC1350-ZIPC1350.html

-Bookshelf. This also could go with dark walnut, or black. I'm confused because I have mostly blacks/greys, but the desk is brown, so I'm thinking I should just really bring it in so its less awkward? http://www.wayfair.com/Hokku-Designs-Lucas-Bookcase-Display-Stand-KUI2084.html

-Coffee table. Would something like this help tie both colors together?http://www.wayfair.com/Hokku-Designs-Ives-Coffee-Table-ZOK-DU2135-B2-KUI3075.html

-Area rug under living room stuff. Literally have no idea what to go with here. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

-Kitchen table. I need one, but this brown is lighter than the desk, so do I go with black or does it work? http://www.wayfair.com/Crosley-5-Piece-Dining-Table-Set-KD520004BK-CRY1428.html

I'm clearly very confused what I want, what will look good together, and which direction to go. It doesn't need to be super nice; obviously this is just for a couple years, but I don't want it to look dumb either, if possible on my budget (preferably under ~$1200, hence the cheap website stuff, but we will see, I'm more just trying to figure out HOW to design it, I'll worry more about prices later)

I know I have a lot here, but I would really appreciate any thoughts or ideas.
