Just wondering if anyone has ever/currently had Karastan SmartStrand carpet installed? What are your thoughts. Getting mixed reviews about the product.

make sure you purchase 100 % nylon carpet. Smart strand is just a way to disguise polyester, dont get tricked . Continuous filament nylon is the best fiber to purchase

I have been reading reviews on Mohawks Smart Strand and Karastans Smart Strand. I am seeing lots of bad reviews for the Mohawk brand but positive reviews on Karastan, which are two totally different carpets according to the reviews even though they are both labeled Smart Strand. I am looking at purchasing Karastan's Unprecendted along with the higher end mat in my living room. We have no animals or children living with us. I Would like some feedback on the Karastan from anyone who has it in their home or is familiar with it and how it wears, etc. thanks.

Karastan is a brand under the Mohawk name. They are both the same as far as the fiber goes as Mohawk has exclusive rights to the Smart Strand production. We install over a million square feet of carpet every year and almost 80% of it is Smart Strand. I feel that is wears just as well as Nylon, it is nothing like polyester as some people claim. The biggest advantage of the Smart Strand over Nylon is it's inherent ability to repel stains. In our showroom we have done large tests of installed nylon and Smart Strand next to each other in high traffic areas and over a 5 year period the Smart Strand has actually out performed the nylon of similar quality. This is just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't hesitate for a minute going with the style you mentioned above.

We purchased smart strand carpet for our home in 2021. after 1 year we continued to notice fiber strands around the house. we had them come out to inspect. they did a pull test on the carpet fibers and it failed miserably. so they replaced all of the carpet. another year later and still seeing fibers. another inspection which failed so again they replaced the carpet. guess what? its happening again but this time they say its fine. my advice, run, dont walk away from this carpet
