I think it partly depends on if your mounting sconces on a floating mirror the length of the vanity vs on both sides of framed mirror. The framed mirror defines the edges while a floating mirror sort of becomes infinity. Also the big mirror 'mirrors' the sconce because it's mounted on its surface...hence making the sconce more defined and your eye sees a total 4 lights due to this reflection. I tend to go a bit bigger framing the mirror and smaller if mounted on a mirror~

I am installing a 36 inch vanity. The right side of the vanity is against the wall. There is two different styles of sconces I am interested in. One sconce is 5 inches wide the other one is 8 inches wide. I want to install a round mirror. How big the mirror should be if I want to install sconces on each side of the mirror?

It sounds like your mirror should be 20-22” wide.

I have a 48” vanity with a 37” round mirror. Not sure what size light. I do not want sconces. Help
