Cork is comfortable and warm.

I would suggest using engineered flooring, it has plywood backing and you can refinish it a few times. You can also use XPS Rigid foam and insulate the floor.

I can speak to the cork. Gray is hot right now. So there are several gray floors on offer at the time. Cork has a hard time "turning gray" because it starts out the colour of a pumpkin. Imagine trying to "gray wash" a pumpkin...without making it look "painted". Yah. You can see the problem.

We have Printed cork out of Switzerland. Oak Pearl Gray is a lovely wide plank barn gray floor that is made of cork. It looks like barn wood...but in cork. It is the toughest cork finish we carry. We are also expecting several NEW products that incorporate a non-PVC "vinyl" finish over top of a cork floor. It is called "Fusion" and the first two colours will arrive in December. One will be a light gray with some hints of warm to it...and the other will be a light, warm colour with hints of gray. Both neutrals, both 4ft planks. Both VERY handsome.

It would be a comparable product to a vinyl-cork floor...without the PVCs. It is new out of Portugal. We are very excited.

If you can wait another 5 weeks, the new Fusion product will be in our warehouse ready for samples to be shipped. Again, these are very handsome floors with the toughness of vinyl (minus the PVCs) and the quiet and warmth of cork.
