Why stress yourself out? Reschedule the contractor until after you have made decisions about everything you need.

Plus there's often a lead time on lighting and sometimes flooring, and whatever you decide on may not be available by Tuesday. Do yourself a favor and take your time.

OK Wall paint sounds good, all fixtures white. I would NOT paint the vanity. Keep the wood finish. I'm sure the kids will not be careful and at least this doesn't show chips in the paint. If you are going tile on the floor, I would do a darker grey rectangular tile like something from Lowes. It will make everything look fresh.

Thank you BeverlyFLADeziner - We are going to hit Lowes again as I think you are right in that grey tile is the way to go. We did pick up 2 grey tiles from Home Depot, but they had a stone look and did not look right with the countertop.

btw.. What do you think of this mirror if we do decide to replace the mirror in the girls bathroom. Also must a mirror fill the entire width of the vanity?

Would you suggest a 3 or 4 light - lighting fixture above either the existing mirror or the new mirror (laid horizontal btw, not vertical). Also, what is the rule of thumb re: lighting? As wide as the sink or the vanity? or somwhere in between?

I'm thinking if there are multiple kids in the room, that one big mirror is better than the multiple mirror that are current now. You will have a hard time finding a fixture that goes all the way across, but an electrician should be able to gang mount multiple fixtures across the top of the mirror.

BTW, IKEA is a great source for medicine cabinets in different sizes and shallow wall mounted storage cabinets if the kids have lots of toiletries to store.

The mirror comes in a larger size as the size we brought home is to small for the vanity in the girls bathroom. Love the look of the above mirror x 2 in our ensuite though (we have double sinks). I'm keeping them for that room.

This is the larger mirror. Will have to measure and see if it would fit any better. Lighting confuses me. I can't envision have two lighting fixtures butting up against each other and it looking fine. Does anyone have any photos that would show this look being pulled off successfully.

I like mirrors that go from the top of the vanity to the ceiling with the light fixture electric pulled through a hole in the mirror provided you cannot see the guts behind the fixture.

Consider a subtle blue/gray or green/gray instead of straight gray. Bring a touch of pink in with a patterned shower curtain. Add a little glam for the girls with your mirror and lighting choices.

Yes I have to get a great curtain for them to get color back into the room - I love the choice you chose. That mirror is actually lovely - thank you for the suggestion! On my travels around today I found a few that would fit the bill quite nicely!

Flooring is still a bit of a challenge.

The AquaSource brand from Lowe's has something similar for less. I am told AquaSource is actually made by Delta, marketed by Lowe's under its private brand.

Post teh after pics. Are micky and minnie staying or are you having the tile sprayed white? Or just painting over the mickey tiles and letting it stand as a varied look which I think is OK!

The flooring seems to be a struggle for me. Finding the right color/style that is. These are two I brought home but the 'natural stone/concrete' look I'm not sure of. Our local Lowes does not have the tile BeverlyFLADeziner posted as we are in Ottawa, Canada..

Do you have a sample piece of the countertop granite? A photo of the sample with the tub/shower tile would be useful. Please add a piece of white paper to show colors better.

Thank you. It is actually laminate. We are keeping the countertop, sink, vanity (painting it) and tub. Everything else is getting switched out. We are tiling under the vanity so that we'll be in a position to switch it out once we get to that point. We are finalizing a kitchen update as we speak so full bathroom reno's aren't on the immediate horizon.

Here is a picture of the laminate (with the requested piece of white paper) and the two tiles we have chosen as the final 2. Do you prefer one over the other? I've also taken a picture of the tub tile.

We plan to paint the vanity (we are having it professionally done) and I'm curious what everyone thinks of the following options:

• paint the vanity the same white as all of the trim in the room
• paint the vanity an off white - cloud white (BM)
• paint the vanity a shade of grey

I think I'm liking the idea of a stark white vanity with a colored wall. Husband wants it to be a darker color, but there are no windows in the room and as it's a teenage girls room I don't want it to be too adult or boring.. I'm still undecided on the paint color. I wish I could find a shower curtain I like so I could pull from there.

BeverlyFLADeziner - we purchased the 4" centerset faucet because we are keeping the sink. Unfortunately I don't think we are in a position to add sconces vs. a single light on top of the vanity as it would involving updating the wiring and we are trying to update as best we can without doing a more involved renovation. That will come once we replace the vanity etc. in a couple years.

Also, I've been trying to determine my style and I'd definitely have to say that it is transitional, but classic styling.

If you look at the latest photos I've posted is there a floor tile (of the 2) that you think would go well with the countertop and tub tile?

Thanks for photos. Neither of the two floor tile samples goes with the tub tile. Try a plain off white. It's important that the floor tile go with the tub tile to keep from looking like a partial remodel carried out at two different times. DalTile and American Olean have good quality, good price, and may be available in Canada.

I'd ask the teen girls to choose the shower curtain. Give them a budget and ask them to choose three from some online store, then you can help them make a final decision. A shower curtain is not a big deal and gives them some ownership on this remodel.

apple_pie_order - Would this tile be what you are suggesting? We have a similar type of tile - though smaller - as you can see from this photo, in our master bath. If we went with white would you suggest a similar color of grout to our master bath - a dark grey?

Yes, that's a nice classic white or off white tile. Match the paint to the tile, not vice versa. Grout color is a personal choice, if you want it to look the same as the other two bathrooms, choose the same gray grout and same size tiles as in those rooms. A more contemporary choice would be white/off white grout, but that does require some tolerance for getting darker with normal wear and tear.
