May I suggest keeping the containers in a cool place with no light or water until spring... They will keep the best undisturbed. Then you could always divide them in spring after they come back up, or wait for the following year.

I have had lousy luck storing the small bedding dahlia other ways, as they tend to have small tubers that dry up if you look at them wrong.
