Color experts: Need help with colors

This is my tack room in my barn. I've used Benjamin Moore Annapolis Gray on the cabinets and BM Dove White on the walls, trim and old locker. I'd like your comments on how the granite coordinates with this color (do I need to change cabinet color?). If granite is ok., what bright colors if any can I use in the room perhaps to paint the chairs and purchase a wood pecan colored table? I see from searching that Annapolis Green is a good complement to Annapolis Gray. I'd love to see bright yellow, coral or an aqua used, but not sure which colors would work. Also, the concrete floor will be stained (would love your ideas about colors of stain to use. (Note the water heater and security system will be enclosed in same cabinetry next year). I'll post more about the purpose of this room in comments.

My original thought was to put saddles mounted on the wall to the right of the lockers and next to the door between door and window. Leather bridles were to be hung on fancy bridle racks on the long wall that is lit with three LED eyeball lights. I was thinking of using a silvery Jeffrey Phillips grasscloth on three plywood panels (like a large tryptic) for those individual bridle racks. Now, my friends are suggesting I put saddles and bridles in another room I had dedicated for feed and hay and use this room as an office and "party" room. I'm leaning that direction, but want this room to be really "cool". Annapolis Gray is kind of a greige color and in pics I've seen it works well with gold metals (like cabinet pulls) and lighting. But, I've already installed a darker stainless ceiling fan and pendant light over the sink. I welcome your suggestions on any of this. First, let's look at color. Then, would you invest in a bar height table and chairs or stay with a chair height dining table? Are my little chairs I picked up for $25 each the right scale for this room? This room is insulated but not climate controlled unless I run the window AC unit or space heater so furniture needs to be o.k for heat, humidity, cold, etc. I so appreciate your suggestions. I'm exhausted trying to figure out what to do.

How will this space be used? Do you run a stable where children come to ride? What type of parties? Who'd use it as an office?

lisad82, The colors are, indeed, unusual for a tack room. I ride western and am just tired of the very rustic look. I'd love to add reclaimed wood stained the right gray, but it's so expensive!! That's how I got to the grasscloth idea. Not sure I can glue it on to the plywood to stay in a non-climate-controlled room. I do think navy, hunter green and red would work well, but I'm just not crazy about those colors. Hunter green implies English and I ride Western. I'm so glad you think counter works with cabinets. The granite is Corinthian White (rather common I'm told) and it was a remnant. The counters are remnants as well which is why their styles are different from each other.

lisad82, The place right now is just for me, but I should expect visiting grandkids and nieghbors' kids. I might lease paddocks one day. By "party", I mean, girlfriends sitting after a ride, drinking wine and playing games. A cozy place to escape heat or cold.

I could save my money and purchase this, but I was hoping I could do this without spending $3,000 or more. Teak Dining Table and Chairs

I'm not familiar with how grasscloth would hold up in a non-climate-controlled room. Others may have better recommendations.

With your counters/cabinets and with what you describe (liking reclaimed wood but not primary colors) then maybe steer toward metal, wood, grays and blacks. The chairs you have could be painted black. Perhaps find an industrial table with a metal top or wood that you can age yourself. I recommend a chair height dining room table rather than a bar table, as it can serve more comfortably for both office work and parties.

If you are inclined there are many ways to "age" new wood. There's a steel wool and vinegar method you can find on the Internet that my brother-in-law uses. Real aged barn wood is expensive and in high demand. He travels to rural locations for it but has to sometimes mix in new wood with his projects and the steel wool method works well in blending new fillers with the authentically aged wood.

Others will chime in with great ideas and inspiration photos for you too I'm sure.

O.k. I think black is a good choice for the chairs and I agree chair height is more practical for kids and anything else, really. The steel in the barn stalls will be black so that works really well. And thanks for your comments. They are much appreciated.

I think Lisad82's suggestions are spot on--black chairs and "aging" a new table. I also like the yellow door and hope you can find a use for it. Do you need a fabric for anything? maybe you could incorporate bright colors with that.

Thanks Junco EG, I could do window treatments but they would only be for decor. Not needed. Might find a way to incorporate fabrics as this rounds out. Thanks!!!

Ha! Yes, and I'll try to keep it that way. No tack in there just yet :)

Here is a table offered on craigslist I might be able to pick up (not the chairs). Should I stay with an industrial table with metal top (hard to find thus far)?Pecan Table

I could save my money and buy this table and its chairs. Cushions would be good in this room. Ballard Designs Ceylon Table and Chairs
