Safety Control Valve Is UGLY !!!

We had a wood fireplace, but had it replaced by a gas fireplace....we saw pictures of different fireplaces, and chose one based on the picture. We came home today to the finished job and are NOT happy....in clear view is an ugly safety control valve....this grotesque "box" right next to the logs....this valve was NOT in any of the photos we saw. Is this safety control valve, aka, box usually in plain sight...it makes the fireplace very unsightly. Please help !!

Contact the people who installed it and ask why the valve is where it is.

Chris: Is there an option where the valve could be installed? Could it be "hidden", out of sight? Is it normal for the valve to be clearly visible???

I don't know about "normal", but I have an unsightly valve and yellow tube right in front of my gas logs. Don't know why it is there. When we bought our house it was more covered by gravel, but that has shifted over time and no longer covers or screens the logs.

How would you reach a safety valve that was in the fireplace with the logs? What is the purpose of this safety valve? What brand of gas fireplace do you have installed? Can you refer to the manufacturer installation specs?

Or go down to fireplace showroom and look at some models. The folks who sell them usually know a bit about them.
