Oh, wow, Beverly! I love the shadow effect - very cool!

The shadow box takes it from "just another t -shirt" quilt to an "oh wow" quilt. Good work Sharon.

Theresa, It's Beverly's work. My DGD wanted a quilt made from her t-shirts and I told her I would help her but I had no desire to actually make one. Never heard another word from her about it.

I too love it, Beverly, and agree with others about impact of the shadows in enhancing the t-shirts logos. Hope your square ruler comes soon; looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Thanks everyone. It seems UPS doesn't have boats and the ruler is stuck in Montgomery, but should be delivered tomorrow. So today I got out the shirts for her sister's quilt and washed them. There are more of them, but they are smaller. The background and backing will be orange for hers.

I've seen many tee-shirt quilts at my guild meeting and this one is way beyond any of those. Nice work, Beverly!

Love the shadow effect. How do you do it?

I cut a 1 1/2 inch wide black strips, sewed a 1 1/2 inch square of the background to the ends. Then sewed a strip to the left side (background piece up) and to the bottom (background piece to the right). Then I played with blocks and background fabric to get squares that are the same size. If the tee-shirts had all been the same size I would have used a solid background. But I had to use pieces to adjust the sizes of the blocks, so wanted a pattern to help hide the seams. I always wanted to try it and was inspired by the one Jennifer did at the retreat.

Is the background fabric woven or knit?

It is woven. I had to stabilize the tee-shirts so they wouldn't stretch and distort.

I love the shadows. It makes it look like the t-shirt blocks are floating pictures. Neat.
