I think that beautiful landscaping to compliment the beautiful, simplicity of this home might be just the right touch.

Sharing my story. Moved from burbs..to rural. Farmhouses do not have decorative shutters (old ones dont). My metro real estate agent looked at the photo of our 1920's farmhouse and suggested.....shutters! Uh...no. It did get some getting used to a simpler "look" vs cookie cutter builder subdivision houses. But i have come to appreciate period farmhouse exteriors. Less really is more. We were just wondering if there was something missing, since we are not designers and sometimes we tend to be more critical of our own stuff, but you guys really helped us closing this stage. We will of course take into account the "landscaping" and the "shutters" suggestions, and will take another picture in some months with the final results. We hope you guys like it ! :)

I like the idea of lining the windows with color too. That could be a very elegant, but subtle look. Also, I think some of the comments here are very judgmental. We don't all see things the same way and asking for help/ideas should not be met with snide comments, it's not helpful.

We are thinking to add some color to the part with the 2 windows. Maybe the same gray of the fence.

That only helps one facade try to draw the others and play around with it Maybe that one part could even be done in another color altogether.

Nadia, the talk about shutters was sarcasm, one might say a joke made at your expense. Ignore it. Your house does not need shutters, decorative or otherwise. How about checking out similar homes in your area and see how people used some of the native plants in their landscaping. Good luck!

I think your house is beautiful -- very modernist looking without being stark. Honestly, the fence sort of acts as a finishing design element here -- I'd be hesitant to muss the effect with anything more. Perhaps the darker window casing, but that's about it. The interest is in the architectural elements and the way they come together in various ways...

I can see a mild gray at the back there, just for variety, but please don't mess with the front! you got great work from this build!

And the fence is lovely, too. So often, the fence doesn't match the vibe of the home. Yours does, in spades. Lovely home.

I'd add a little more landscaping too, just so it looks a bit more established. This isn't my style but I'd be cautious in changing anything; it looks very well done to me.

I know once again i will probably be alone, but it looks like you might be in FL. unusual but might actually think of doing window trim and fence trim in like sea blue something like that. just that little bit. Gives it a beachy vibe but not miami.

The house is beautiful. Simple is better.
Low maintenance plants that cover the wall under the fence or a vine will add some more green. If they have flowers they may add some sweet aroma. What about a low ground cover were the palm trees are? No grass, it's too demanding. If the plants are native to the area, low maintenance and don't need much water that will be a plus. Power wash the street strip and will bright up the space.
Inside the fence grow some edges or plant some tall skinny trunk trees, or the two options. You'll get more privacy and safety.
Vines? Something with flowers if you like? Make somebody build a modern, simple trellis for you and don't plant anything closer than 2 feet of the house foundation. That means no trouble next time you have to paint the house and you'll prevent intruding roots to the house.

May paint the under part of the roof black, a bold color or have it lined with wood. I'm sure there is a name for the bottom of hang of the overhang of a roof but I don't know it.

These modern styles they do a lot with the fencing, and in front of windows and the door number or i have another trim you might like instead on fence, just a touch more interest.
