Kitchen backsplash

We have a pretty good size kitchen that we are updating. I would love to have all if the backsplash done in tile but I'm trying to save money where I can if possible. I was thinking of doing subway tile above stove and sink area only and bead board on the rest. Would that be too much going on? We will definitely have a herringbone wood tile floor. TIA!

Absolutely no wood ( or MDF ). If you need to save money, install it yourself. Subway tile is perfect. If you go with 3"or 4" high, you may not need to cut the top course, you could do a piece of Cabinet trim. And for the tiles you need cut, the tile store will do it for a nominal charge. Find a tutorial on line and do 3 or 4 square feet a day after work. Piece of Cake and cleanable!
