Hello and thank you for your question. Typically we use Brazilian hardwoods such as Ipe or Garapa for smaller roof decks because they are extremely durable and low maintenance. But the Brazilian hardwoods are more expensive than other, more common woods. Since this is a larger project, we specified Cedar with a durable stain and sealer. Cedar is more cost effective, but will require more maintenance than Ipe, for example. We hope this helps, and good luck with your project.
