Rob - The Eco Wood product is colorless. We applied a mixture of two transparent stains of black and brown (not equal parts) and applied a couple of coats. We experimented on multiple sample board squares to determine the right mixture for the right color... Send photo... Good luck!

This is a dream...I've always wanted to live on a farm and have a home like this in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

Your home turned out beautifully. I will check out the article on the the staining process but I was wondering how you are fining the combined product to be holding up? Will you have to reapply the black/brown stain often? We have roughly 6700sqft of fencing/retaining walls to do and I'm struggling to find a product that doesn't require stain every 2-3 years. Thanks!

Brooke - Anytime you use a stain (darker even more so) it needs reapplying particularly on the direct sun exposure and harsh weather beaten areas etc. we had to have a few of these areas retreated after its third year. We had extreme heat and drought followed by extreme cold and rain fall here in Napa Valley/Northern California. It all depends on weather conditions too. Quality of Wood etc... we applied multiple coats. I'm sorry but I don't recall the brand of stain but it would have been a higher end price point brand. Hope that helps...

Thanks! I really appreciate the reply and hearing about the experience you've had with the darker stain. Weather and location will definitely affect how well a dark colour last but it's a good gauge as to what I might be able to expect if I go dark. I have serious house envy! Thanks again
